In this statement you have to write who’s Leïla to Samir? She’s his daughter, (**fille**).

You also have to add the definite article before the noun. **Fille** is feminine singular, so the article will be **la**: Leïla est la fille de Samir.

**Tante** is feminine singular so you have to put the definite article **la**. Julie est la tante de Benoît.

Who’s Denis to Marie? He’s her grandson, **petit-fils.**

**Petit-fils** is masculine singular so the article will be **le**: Denis est le petit-fils de Marie.

Who’s Caroline to Yasmine? She’s her cousin (famale cousin – **cousine**).

**Cousine** is feminine as you can see from the ending – **e**. The male cousin is **cousin**, without the – **e**. The definite article will therefore be: **la**

The noun **grand-père** is masculine singular. The definite article will therefore be **le**.

Who’s Julie to Samir? She’s his wife (**femme**).

You can say both **femme** and **épouse**. They are both feminine singular nouns. If you choose the noun **femme**, the article will be **la**: **la femme**. But if you choose the noun **épouse**, the article **la** will be elided before the vowel – **é**: **l’épouse**.
