In this exercise, you have to show the similarities and the differences between the two twins by using the conjunction of union and connection ET to show their similarities and the conjunction MAIS (opposition, restriction) to show how they are different.

In this case, both twins like football and baseball so we’ll connect these two with ET.

Simon et Basile aiment jouer au foot et au base-ball.

In this case we can show how they are different by using the conjunction MAIS: one likes math more and the other prefers to draw and English.

Simon aime les maths MAIS Basile aime l’anglais et dessiner.

In this case we can show both: how they are alike (they both like music) but as well how they are different (because Basile only likes modern music). We’ll show this restriction by using the conjunction MAIS.

Basile et Simon aiment la musique mais Basile aime seulement la musique moderne.

In this case we show how alike they are: they both like going out with friends. Therefore we’ll use the conjunction ET.

Simon aime sortir avec des copains et Basile aime aussi aller au café avec des amis.

In this case we can use the conjunction ET even if we’re not talking about two same things (swimming and eating). But, we’re not making an opposition between the two things one of them likes or dislikes. We are describing them, enumerating what one of the twins likes or dislikes and the same about the other one.

We could say: Simon n’aime pas nager MAIS il adore manger or Simon n’aime pas nager MAIS Basile adore nager.

Simon n’aime pas nager et Basile adore manger.
