Four weeks ago, my friends and I were in a predicament regarding our OJT as we had not yet secured a suitable internship placement. Fortunately, we were informed by our classmates that Estrellas Home Care Clinic was still accepting applications for interns. Without hesitation, we promptly went to Estrellas after our class to participate in an orientation conducted by Dr. Rebecca. The following week, Dr. Rebecca gave us a detailed explanation of the rules and regulations applicable to OJT interns. It was truly impressive to observe several students from Thomasian University who were also undergoing their practicum at Estrellas.
On our first day as interns, we had the opportunity to visit the second floor and engage with patients while wearing our full uniform. Initially, I felt uncomfortable around the patients and struggled with finding appropriate things to say. There was a c
...onstant fear of unintentionally offending them and receiving a negative response in return. Nevertheless, as time progressed, my anxiety decreased and I came to realize that the patients were more skilled at socializing than myself. After 6 days, there was a noticeable enhancement in my communication abilities compared to my initial interactions.
I am currently friends with Kuya Francis, Kuya Wilson, and Mang Ben. During my free time, I like playing basketball with both Kuya Francis and Mang Ben while they are on their strolling period. Despite his advanced age, Mang Ben exhibits remarkable basketball skills. For lunch breaks, we often dine at the sari-sari store near Estrellas. This place is well-known for socializing with students from various schools. One aspect that truly impresses me is the exceptional patient care delivered by Estrellas Home Care Clinic.
In
my perspective, Estrellas Home Care Clinic provides better patient care compared to the mental hospital in Mandaluyong. Throughout the past week, I have acquired significant knowledge in clinical psychology. I look forward to further learning and personal development during our OJT at Estrellas Home Care Clinic. I am certain that this clinic will equip me with essential expertise and practical experience to improve my proficiency in psychology.
