Masculinity and feminism dimension focuses on how extent to which a society stress achievement or nurture. Masculinity is seen to be the trait, which emphasizes ambition, acquisition of wealth, and differentiated gender roles. Femininity is seen to be the trait that stress caring and nurturing behaviors, sexuality equality, environmental awareness, and more fluid gender roles. Portuguese culture's dimension on masculinity and feminism is that based on our findings the culture itself has been leaning toward being more feminine.
Why we say this culture is more awards feminism is because based on the methodology we used and femininity is seen to be the trait, which stress caring and nurturing behaviors, sexuality equality, environmental awareness, and more fluid gender roles. Why we say Portuguese culture is feminism is that they accentuates on being caring towards each other a
...mong their family and people. They value nurturing behavior and their behavior are very nurturing towards each other.
Portuguese culture also promotes sexuality equality where they view and implies that men and women should be equal in almost everything and equal treatment is given. Clearly delineates sex roles but places greater value on cooperative efforts and service. They are also very environmental friendly and have more fluid gender roles. Portuguese culture also possesses strong concern for social harmony and human relationships.
Motivation for achievement does not super cede interpersonal relationships. They way we see and observe them because we had a few of Portuguese friends and they are concern about their relationship with human be it friends or strangers because they do not like to have a bad relationships with each other and they would strive very hard to
maintain social harmony, on their residential areas they would participate on about just every event organized by their head house.
On the other hand, when they were to have these issues with each other or anyone else to begin with they will find the only possible way to negotiate disputable issues because they do not want to prolong disputes among each other and will try to solve it in a win-win situation. As I mentioned earlier, sexual roles are not strictly fixed, male and female have equal social roles. Female can be the bosses to men and men can also be the bosses to the omen and there is some time where women can also be the priests. And in corporate world and working environments, the Portuguese culture would have a smaller gender gap in terms of wages.
And also they will have more women in the management area as compared to the masculine culture whom have and always preferred men over women in every aspects. Other than that they also prefer fewer working hours because they want to spend more time with each of their family members. They prefer quality time with the family. The purpose of life for working class is life itself and work is here only to allow people to live, so long term legislations with an employer and flexible schedule are characteristics of these types of cultures.
And the strategies that we are suggesting to improve communications with them people and deal with them is since that Malaysia is leaning more towards masculinity culture and we should give and take more when dealing with them for example we should give
them female more ways to deal with us by acknowledging them in what they are doing and respecting them they way we respects our men and by that way this feminists culture should feel accommodating and will be able to adapt with us.
