Dear Journal, Today is September 20, 2030. I found myself awakening in a peculiar and desolate location, with my last memory being the departure with my husband, Anthony, and our son, Angel, on the final spaceship bound for the moon. It was humanity's last hope, as Earth has become uninhabitable and resembles a colossal landfill. The government claims that the moon is a vibrant and thriving place, unlike our deceased planet. Determined to find signs of life, I tirelessly explored my surroundings. After walking what felt like an arduous ten-mile journey, I finally stumbled upon a creature.
It appeared to be a sci-fi movie creature, resembling a blue fluffy dog with long rabbit ears, a cat tail, and antennas. Tentatively, I approached it, and it eagerly approached me, jumping on me and covering my face with licks. Initially shocked, I soon recognized th
...at it was my dog, Biscuit. Instantly, I was overwhelmed with joy, relieved to have companionship. Thoughts of Biscuit's transformation occupied my mind until hunger interrupted with a growling sound. Ignoring it, I believed fretting over food wouldn't benefit me.
Upon seeing Biscuit's intense gaze, it was as if she were silently instructing me to "follow me". My curiosity piqued, I obediently trailed behind her and soon found myself within what seemed to be a bustling research facility. Within the facility, I observed scientists diligently conducting tests on various creatures through administering peculiarly colored injections. Witnessing a cat being injected with a purplish hue, I noticed its transformation into a peculiar state, much like my dog. I couldn't help but wonder about the purpose of these injections and how my dog managed to escape. Suddenly,
everything became clear to me as I glanced upwards and realized we were enclosed within a dome. It dawned on me that these experiments on animals were likely aimed at discovering a means for humans to survive on the moon without needing cumbersome space suits.
In an attempt to genetically modify humans for moon survival, I navigated through a small opening with my companion Biscuit. This led us into a room filled with cages containing imprisoned individuals, evoking conflicting emotions of both joy and sorrow. The prospect of reuniting with Anthony and Angel filled me with happiness, yet panic consumed me as I frantically searched for them amidst the whispers of other captive humans pleading for assistance. Determined, I swiftly made my way towards a particular cage where Anthony and Angel were situated; however, access was impeded by a locked door requiring a specific key card. Gazing at them, I vowed unwaveringly to liberate them from their predicament despite any challenges that lay ahead.
Quietly leaving my loved ones behind, I discreetly exited through the door, taking care not to be discovered. To my surprise, a man suddenly grabbed me and forcefully struck the back of my head. When I regained consciousness, I found myself face-to-face with someone wearing a lab coat known as "Dr. Smith". He expressed remorse for his actions and assured me that they were necessary for my own safety. Although fear and suspicion consumed me, he pleaded with me to listen closely. The doctor went on to explain the urgent need to immediately leave this location because the moon was now being used as a site for conducting experiments involving human subjects.
The other
scientists are actually aliens who have the ability to transform into humans. However, they unintentionally acquired all human characteristics, including the inability to breathe in our atmosphere. Over time, they conducted experiments on animals and now on all arriving humans. Meanwhile, I have been working on a Time Machine. Out of everyone, you are the only person they haven't experimented on. It is crucial for you to travel back in time and save us from this terrible fate. He revealed his time machine and despite my fear and astonishment, I managed to ask why they didn't experiment on me. He explained that they tried but an invisible force repelled their attempts. I asked how it was possible and how I could save mankind but he had no answers. Apologizing sincerely, he responded that he didn't know either. With thoughts of my family racing through my mind, I approached the machine and declared that for their sake, I would strive to rescue mankind.
"What's the worst that can happen?" we both chuckled, attempting to lighten the atmosphere. "Good luck," he wished me as I entered the machine. Suddenly, a familiar ringing sound reached my ears. This time, upon waking up, I found myself in bed with the echo of my alarm clock filling the room. Overwhelmed with emotion, I embraced my husband tightly as if we had been separated for an extended period and professed my love for him. In a rush, I hurried to my son's room and repeated this affectionate act. Returning to my bedroom, thoughts about the dream flooded my mind. Was it merely a dream or a glimpse into an impending future that
