As educational leaders are modelled for future administrative positions, it is necessary to make them realise their responsibilities at such positions. It was through a self-reflection that I recognised how much a course on Educational Leadership would sharpen my skills. In leadership, one must choose their approach, I and fellow classmates come to the realisation that a leader should inspire, I have adjusted my skills to match the fundamentals of inspirational leadership. Looking through all leadership model, each had elements that can be useful in certain situations. However, not all were applicable in educational leadership. The module helped me to make critical decisions as a leader, in a leadership position, one must find common ground for all leadership techniques. As an educational leader, one works with people from different background to achieve a common goal. One of the critical concepts in educational leadership is behaviour communication plan and its relationship to the understanding of general expectations of each party, I have learnt the effectiveness of McIntyre’s illustration to this purpose. In Wiles’ (2008) book “Leading Curriculum Development”, I have learnt that ideas of effective quality assessment of teaching practices. I wish to use these skills in my internship face of the study. I gained the idea of assessing the quality of since it relates to the value of education.

Assessing delivery modes and the objectives of education is critical and has the potential for expansion into education setting.

This decision comes from the need to ensure that school system serves the purpose of its design and student can relate class work to its real life applications, this proposal is related to my chosen organisation in that:

  • It is the role of the administrator to ensure that teachers use the appropriate modes of delivery, which are critical in science related subjects.
  • Teachers require regular assessment by educational leaders to ensure quality service delivery
  • The teaching of science should involve the use of facts and hands-on experiments; the school administrator must ensure that such requirements are observed

All these can be achieved through assessment of the quality of lab experiments. Improvement of quality of teaching of science subject will help students to understand the concepts from a practical point of view. The students are thus able to achieve better depths in their major. The methodologies and tools used can help a student in obtaining further knowledge. In addition, the students will be prepared to participate constructively in scientific research. The assessment will help me develop skills that are necessary for ensuring that teachers use the best appropriate in teaching science.

To assess the quality of service delivery, new teachers need to undergo 3-hour observation by senior teachers. The new teachers are subjected to lab session where they are observed on public speaking as well as fundamental concepts critical for teaching science; this is a basis for developing quality instructional lessons expected of a teacher during classes. The lab sessions will also be under the supervision of a department-appointed professor who will offer immediate judgment on the quality of delivery. The new teachers will also be observed on

personal developments of teaching philosophies, preparation of the scheduled lab-work and familiarity with grading rubrics in science; this will allow for easy assessment of the quality of delivery and suggestions for change.

A school prepares the student for vast career opportunities, from applied science to a background for a future career in science related profession or graduate studies in pure sciences. A well planned high-quality instruction framework offers a good start for careers in Biochemistry, Physics, and Biology and in toxicology among other fields (Clayton, 2012). I plan to play a leadership role in developing high-quality teaching as a school administrator.

My responsibilities include the improvement of the current approach to approved methods that ensure quality in education. I will use the following steps to accomplish my objectives:

  • Evaluating quality assessments remarks from assigned senior teachers on new teachers in the preparation and explanation of procedures use in laboratory experiments. This will take 3 hours every week.
  • Check assessment of remarks on the theoretical explanation and their learning objectives during the 10-20 minutes’ senior teacher- new teacher interactions
  • Assessing the general grading of new teachers on quality of their service delivery
  • Providing new teachers with guidance on how to improve quality of information delivery on weekly basis and when topic changes

I will keep a record of my progress by evaluating the qualitative change in core areas of competencies. In order to monitor the progress of the steps, I will make a record of senior teacher-new teacher interaction at the start of the project and on a weekly basis until the end. The level of quality will be graded between 1 and 10, 1 being poor and 10

being excellent. Change in delivery quality will be measured using the same scale after every assessment test. Teachers will also be asked to grade the quality of improvements at the end of the project. The data will be organised and overall change measured using the average rate of progress.

The success of the project will be measured by positive growth in the core areas of concerns. An adoption of recommended teaching methods by the teachers as part of service delivery is a measure of good change (Zhang, 2014). I will assess the performance of my project by consulting with the education standards concerning the measurement of quality of instructions in a learning environment. Assessment of the general improvement in the quality of delivery, attitude and explanation of science concepts will provide an accurate measure of the performance from the new teacher’s side. I will use the evaluation form provided by faculty to be filled by my supervisor to see the areas of progress.
