As a starting, the novel 1984 was published in 1984 and is a frightening novel by George Orwell. The setting of the novel is in Great Britain, which was characterized by unending wars due to a government that was all seeing and laced with public manipulation. It was a dictatorial system to say the least about it (Orwell, Pp75). The present government at that time was controlled by a selected few wealthy people who were members of the Inner Party, and they could not stomach individualism as they perceived it to be a thought crime. This by itself justifies the level of inequality that characterized this form of government.
Orwell being a socialist was inclined to the belief that there was a need for rebellion in order to tap the potential of the society to advance change. However, this was cont
...rary to the totalitarian rule that was followed at that time (Huber, Pp 108). The inequalities witnessed were happening as a result of the strict rules that were followed with no room being left for any form of debate as whatever was said was final. For instance during a time that the majority part of the world was embracing communism as a step towards human advancement in the growth of equality in government the regime in question was doing exactly the opposite (Orwell, Pp96).
The authors view point in regards to inequality, and other issues of societal concern are as follows. Orwell makes an assertion that there should be a complete on the government and particularly the system of government from the capitalist structure to the communism one (Hamilton, Pp 43). The author also holds the view
that people should be given the free will of independence to express their thoughts in a lawful manner.
The themes that clearly come out in the development of the story in the novel are totalitarianism, propaganda, sexuality, music, independence, poverty and wealth, loyalty, technology and language (Gutman, Pp116).
