Unhealthy pregnancies result in undernourished and underweight children being born into this world—further increasing the number of hungry children worldwide. Our world faces interrelated problems such as challenges in cultivating food for farming or selling due to destructive impacts on crops from droughts and floods. Despite an abundance of food on our planet, inequality and unfairness persist leading to food shortage and starvation among farmers.

Natural calamities like floods, droughts, and storms have increased due to global warming resulting in failed crops and livestock in poor countries lacking resources. Drastic climate change caused by global warming also contributes to unpredictable weather patterns and worldwide food scarcity—particularly impacting Africa and Asia.The occurrence of war, along with natural disasters, plays a significant role in widespread hunger. Conflict often serves as a means to weaken opponents by using starvation as a tactic. As a result, the percentage of food crises caused by human factors has increased from 15 percent to over 35 percent since 1992. This is particularly evident when people are forced to leave their homes due to war, leading to some of the most severe hunger emergencies globally. For instance, conflict in Central Africa has resulted in an increase from 53% to 58% in the percentage of hungry individuals.

Fortunately, there is a growing awareness of poverty and misery worldwide, which has prompted action against world hunger. Private organizations and non-governmental voluntary organizations have emerged with the goal of raising awareness and funds for countries fighting against world hunger. Proposed solutions

include improving nutrition for children under two years old and supporting small farmers (WTFO, 2012). Governments are also increasing national aid through various measures such as implementing programs, raising awareness, providing education, and making donations to assist their citizens in overcoming this crisis.

Individual contributions also play an important role and should not be overlooked. Engaging in volunteer work within the community—such as working in soup kitchens—or donating money and canned food can have a positive impact on addressing hunger issues. Additionally, spreading awareness through websites, campaigns, and word-of-mouth among friends provides further support towards combating world hunger.
