Moreover, according to Swayne, Duncan and Ginter (2005), the management of supplies within the health care industry is necessary for the so-called vertical integration within organizations belonging to this particular sector. It is through this that they would be able to avoid shortage in supplies without having to spend so much on such.

Simply put, it is concerned about cost reductions through the acquisition of cheap supplies. However, it is through this management that they would be able to acquire these supplies without having to spend so much yet taking the quality of such into consideration (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2005). Nevertheless, the industry is facing a lot of problems that hinder them from managing their supply chains in an efficient manner. More often than not, they are subject to current problems such as the amount of gross national product spent in health care and the poor management of the industry per se.

Because of these, this research shall then be devoted to the analysis of the future of supply management in the health care industry, taking these problems into consideration. In the same manner, it would continue to look into the factors that serve as reasons on why such strategy remains an important one within the said industry. This research also aims to answer the following questions: 1. What is the current status of supply management in the health care industry? 2. What are the reasons behind the inefficient use of supply management strategies in the health care industry? 3.

How does the proper use of supply management strategies bring about benefits to the health care industry? 4. How do inefficient supply management practices negatively affect members of the health care industry? 5. How can supply management practices in the health care industry be improved, taking the actions of other industries into consideration (i. e. the Wal-Mart type collection of data). In connection with the aforementioned research questions, this study would also validate the following hypothesis in this particular study, based on the data (both qualitative and quantitative) gathered by the researcher.

Null Hypothesis 1: The current status of supply management in the health care industry does not show its inefficiency and backwardness when compared to its counterparts. Alternative Hypothesis 1: The current status of supply management in the health care industry shows its inefficiency and backwardness when compared to its counterparts. Null Hypothesis 2: The inability to make use of modern technological advancements and practices does not contribute to the inefficient use of supply management strategies in the health care industry.

Alternative Hypothesis 2: The inability to make use of modern technological advancements and practices contributes to the inefficient use of supply management strategies in the health care industry. Null Hypothesis 3: The proper use of supply management strategies do not bring about benefits to the members of the Health Care Industry. Alternative Hypothesis 3: The proper use of supply management strategies bring about benefits to the members of the Health Care Industry.

Null Hypothesis 4: Inefficient supply management practices do not negatively affect members of the health care industry. Alternative Hypothesis 4: Inefficient supply management practices negatively affect members of the health care industry. Null Hypothesis 5: Following the examples of industries exhibiting the best practices of supply management would not significantly improve that of the health care industry.
