In addition, Microsoft's MSN adCenter software offers equivalent ranking services to those provided by Google and could also be seen as a threat. As consumer lifestyles continue to evolve, it is imperative for Google to find new ways to secure their position and remain relevant.

Google has employed two strategies to maintain profitability during the recession. Firstly, they generated extra revenue by licensing their resources to search engines like AOL, which provided a steady source of income. While this additional income was not as significant as advertising revenue, it served as a reliable backup plan during lean periods. Secondly, to enhance customer convenience and expand its user base, Google offered multilingual search options and implemented ‘suggestive technology’ for translations. This resulted in increased website traffic and ultimately allowed Google to increase advertising rates.

Analysis and Opinion

The Google story is a rarity in the world of business development, as the team used instinct to generate creative business strategies and innovative products, which is not part of the typical standard procedure. Despite having indispensable products, Google has experienced

failed products in the past that have either been revised or removed. Google's success and popularity achieved rapid growth and cultural impact, as is demonstrated by the term ‘to Google’, which has become a synonym for ‘to search’. In comparison to other brands that have taken decades to achieve a ‘top of mind’ status, Google reached this status within a short period of time.

The Google story is an inspiring one that shows there are alternative routes to success beyond traditional workplaces and routines. Google's wide range of online software and strong support from advanced hardware make it a highly diverse provider. Although Orkut failed several years ago, it paved the way for concepts like Facebook, which has become incredibly successful by adopting and advancing networking culture in a unique way. Additionally, Facebook represents the trend of online community systems. Gmail is also widely used as an accommodating and helpful email service that makes transferring large amounts of data easy.

One way for Google to boost its income would be to collaborate with non-advertising firms in order to create products aimed at consumers, such as mobile applications, educational software, and gaming programs. This approach could prove especially advantageous when advertising budgets are limited due to economic recessions.
