In The Alchemist, Santiago met a young woman named Fatima, he is much in love with her but he has to make a tough sacrifice to leave without Fatima to finish pursuing his personal legend, “I’m going away, Santiago said. And I want you to know that I’m coming back. I love you because… Don’t say anything, Fatima interrupted.”(Pg.121/122) Therefore, in Eminem’s Lose Yourself, “So here I go it’s my shot, feet fail me not because this may be the only opportunity that I got.” Eminem depicts in this quote that he only has one opportunity to make his dream come alive and true, and by making it come true you need to work hard and never give up. Both of these quotes desire to follow a dream to its fullest, because if you don’t follow your dream at that moment they might never get to have that chance ever again.

Following a dream can be very difficult, if people have no idea how to pursue a goal you may as well give up. Formulating a plan will help people in each and every way, because if you are prepared for the future you will be prepared for everything. In The Alchemist, Santiago had a very tough challenge, where he had to become the wind or else the tribesmen who have him captive will kill him. “The Simum blew that day as it had never blown before. For generations thereafter, the Arabs recounted the legend of a boy who had turned himself into the wind, almost destroying a military camp,

in defiance of the most powerful chief in the desert.”(Pg.153)Likewise, in Eminem’s Lose Yourself, “I’ve got to formulate a plot or end up in jail or shot.” Both of these quotes tells us that composing a plan will help people with their goal in life, and by planning beforehand you will have a much deeper perspective on how you want to pursue your dream more successfully.

Pursuing a dream is the most important thing in a person’s life, but attempting a dream can be difficult. When pursuing a dream some people feel that they will never be able to achieve their personal legend, or they just have no confidence in themselves to even try to attempt their dream. Every person should follow their dream even if they think it’s too difficult to achieve, they should pursue it because you may never have that opportunity again. When successfully achieving a dream they will become very happy and delighted, because pursuing a dream isn’t always just the end result. It’s the little things along the path to their personal legend that makes a person blessed.
