Unisys will once again work with the Philippines’ Bureau of Customs (BOC), having previously collaborated with them from 1994 to 1999. The BOC is currently undertaking a significant upgrade of its computer-based operations system, known as the ASYCUDAWorld (e-Customs) Project. As part of this project, Unisys will be responsible for integrating five major systems.
BOC Portal, Import and Assessment System, Export Processing System, Operations Support System, and Enterprise Resource Planning/Customer Relationship Management System are part of a multimillion-dollar project that aims to enhance BOC's core and support systems. This project includes hardware and network infrastructure improvements in seaports and airports nationwide. These enhancements will strengthen BOC's core functions of trade facilitation, revenue collection, and law enforcement. BOC, an agency attached to the Department of Finance, is responsible for assessing and collecting duties and taxes on imports, facilitating th
...e release of imported cargoes, and protecting society and the environment from prohibited and harmful substances.
BOC aims to increase responsiveness to clients and support government goals. The solution includes modernizing and rehabilitating selected BOC offices, such as the Port of Manila Formal Entry and Cash Divisions, ICT Center, and MISTG offices. Unisys will provide technical support, implement a sustainable CRM system, and assist with ISO certification. The implementation is expected to result in a streamlined import/export clearance process, improved decision support, better trade facilitation, enhanced revenue collection, and more effective enforcement. Additionally, it will improve electronic information exchange between BOC and other agencies for cargo clearance permits and licenses. The text states that the ASEAN Single Window aims to expedite customs clearance by enabling single submission and processing of customs data, as well as single decision-making for cargo release. In
addition, the use of E-Commerce solutions will enhance convenience for non-face-to-face transactions.
