Throughout my career journey, I have always had a strong passion for working with children. However, as I grew older, my love for music also grew. Music has consistently been a part of my life because of my father's influence. His passing has deepened my emotional connection to him whenever I sing or listen to music. Although shyness initially made it difficult for me to sing in front of an audience, everything changed when I joined a band and started performing at a local lounge while studying at Bethune-Cookman University. The experience was incredibly enjoyable! When I returned home and continued my education at Georgia State University, I felt that it was finally time to step out of my comfort zone and fully embrace performing.

Atlanta, Ga, I had the privilege of witnessing Erykah Badu as the headliner. However, it was RAHBI, an incredible artist who opened the show with his astonishing vocal range and performance that truly left me amazed. Following the concert, there was a meet and greet session where RAHBI was selling his CDs. It was at this moment that I took the opportunity to express my admiration for his show and share my aspirations of working in the music industry. To my delight, he kindly offered advice and asked me to add him on Facebook. Ever since then, he has consistently invited me to his performances.

A year later, I met RAHBI during a production where we were both singing back-up for a local artist. Through the rehearsal process, we developed a strong connection and friendship. It was during this tim

that RAHBI heard me sing for the first time and was deeply impressed by my voice. His admiration gave me the confidence and validation I needed, leading to RAHBI becoming my musical mentor.

During my interview, I inquired if Rahbi always had the intention of pursuing a career in music. He shared that he has been involved in singing since the age of three, initially performing at family gatherings. Instead of viewing music solely as a profession, Rahbi perceives it as a lifestyle - encompassing his entire being. This resonated with me personally because I also possess a comparable deep bond with music. In my younger years, I frequently serenaded my family and staged performances. Similar to Rahbi, music is an essential component of my identity.

Rahbi didn't have a conscious start to his music career. He believed that he had a God-given talent and people began to notice him. Several examples of this were: 1. He sang throughout elementary and middle school and unexpectedly got an opportunity to sign with a boy band on Laface Records. 2. He joined a theater company for fun and was approached by Motown recording artist Donnie to go on tour with him. 3. While being part of the theater company, he started writing music and decided to record them. As he began doing that, major recording artists and the world started to take notice of his talent. For Rahbi, aligning with one's purpose is the key.

In my pursuit of music, I sought advice from Rahbi on how to improve my skills. He emphasized the importance of regular practice and recording everything I do. He

shared that he listens back to his recordings and critiques himself, making necessary improvements. This is an aspect I should adopt, as I am self-critical and believe it is one reason why I avoid recording and reviewing my own performances.

Rahbi expresses no regrets in his career journey, believing that both positive and negative experiences have shaped him into the person he is today. He values this growth. When asked for advice, Rahbi urges aspiring musicians to never give up on their dreams, emphasizing that perseverance is the key difference between success and failure. Additionally, Rahbi encourages individuals to believe in themselves and their unique contributions to the world. Regarding the advantages and disadvantages of his career choice, Rahbi emphasizes the ability to inspire and make a difference as a pro while acknowledging that not everyone is open to change as a con.

During the interview with Rahbi, I gained important insights. Firstly, I discovered that I must overcome my fear and take genuine steps towards establishing my music career. Secondly, I recognized the need to stop being overly critical of my own vocal abilities, as striving for perfection is unrealistic. Instead, I should focus on fixing any aspects I dislike. Lastly, I comprehended that passion is a crucial component in pursuing a career in music; without it, there is little purpose. Overall, this interview served as validation for my life choices and reaffirmed my commitment to pursuing music.
