In the US, Gant is now known as a casual brand, but in Europe it is more commonly regarded as an elegant brand with stylish shirts and accessories.

Bernard Gant, an immigrant to America, was a creative individual with a desire to establish his own industry in his new country. He initially settled in Manhattan, New York and started working in a sweatshop sewing shirt collars. Additionally, he married a woman who also worked at the same company. Their marriage demonstrated a shared passion for craftsmanship.

In 1941, Bernard Gant and his cousin started GANT USA in New Haven, Connecticut. The company's goal was to produce high-quality shirts that were sold to other well-known brands. Essentially, Gant would sew shirts and sell them under another company's label. To denote the quality of the shirts, Gant added a discreet 'g' sewn in

to the corner of each shirt. This logo became a symbol of the shirt's quality, and people began to recognize and trust the 'g' sign rather than focusing on the brand name. Thus, Gant demonstrated their expertise in crafting exceptionally well-made shirts.

Over time, Gant desired to achieve their dream of creating a more casual yet elegant clothing line. Observing the increasing number of individuals opting for relaxed attire, they decided to design a collection of sporty shirts. Gant embraced the concept of being well-dressed without dressing up. They expanded their range and set out to establish their own brand, rather than solely selling their shirts to resellers.

Eight years after its establishment, the Gant brand was launched in 1949, with a main focus on casual shirts. These shirts were designed to be comfortable, featuring folds on th

back that added a unique look and increased comfort.

Gant revolutionized the shirt market with their innovative button-down design featuring buttons on the collar. The shirt quickly gained immense popularity, attracting customers from various locations. Initially, Gant exclusively supplied the shirt to a single company, eagerly anticipating its success. The strategy proved lucrative as they were able to sell the shirts at a higher price point. In a remarkably short period, the product spread across all states in the United States. The appeal of the shirt extended beyond just adults, as even younger students and college attendees were drawn to its sporty fabric.

After achieving great success, Gant decided to invest in advertisements. They opted for coloured full-page ads which proved to be highly effective in showcasing their slightly snobby yet casual new style. These ads catapulted Gant to the surprising position of being the world's second-largest shirt producer. In 1967, the brand was sold and has changed ownership multiple times since then.

Gant decided to expand their influence in Europe, but they were surprised to learn that a Swedish company had already been granted permission to create their own line under the Gant brand. This happened in the early 1980s. Eventually, the Swedish company expanded worldwide (excluding the USA) and became popular by offering an extensive range of products that attracted a larger customer base.

The Swedish business thrived, but the essence of the brand was truly in the United States. Gant strives to uphold the sporty feel in their clothing, while Europe leans towards sophistication. The brand has diversified its range of apparel beyond just shirts. Consequently, Sweden takes ownership of the brand from its American counterpart

in 1999 to establish GANT as a high-end global brand. However, it is reintroduced in the USA in 2001 and becomes an essential part of Gant's worldwide brand by drawing inspiration from European collections.

Gant is a brand that combines sport and elegance, which I find interesting and effective. Personally, I prefer elegant clothing as it reflects my personality and lifestyle. I am a proper and adaptable person, so the casual addition of Gant's clothing is a great combination for me. While I don't want to look overly formal like a prime minister, I still want to look good in a relaxed way. Gant always releases various collections that range from sporty to very elegant. These collections are named Park Avenue, Sport, and Ivy University. There is always at least one garment that you will like. From my perspective, the Ivy University collection is extremely cool. It features smooth elegance with lightly striped shirts in colors ranging from pink to red. The combination of sporty clothing with elegance is visually pleasing.

In summary, Gant provides a remarkable chance for people to fulfill their desire of feeling and looking great in the garments they put on. Their designs are comfortable, visually enticing, and fashionable. When contrasting their present shirt design with their original 'new' design, it is clear that Gant has set a fresh and praiseworthy benchmark that endures over time. The attire provided by Gant enables individuals to express their true selves while upholding a relaxed yet refined style.
