While lying on the front yard, I imagined the exciting night ahead. Soon after, Taylor and his girlfriend, Kara, arrived and called me over. Without hesitation, I got up and went towards their car wearing a Duke sweatshirt and basketball shorts. I sat in the backseat. Immediately, a strong smell of perfume that Kara had sprayed inside the vehicle reached me. Instead of driving tonight, she chose to let Taylor drive even though he didn't have a license. As we headed towards Erik's house where we were supposed to meet for tonight's "Goatman" adventure, we saw a police officer who had just pulled over another car. While passing them by, we breathed a sigh of relief and felt more relaxed as we encountered no more law enforcement officers during our trip.

Taylor bid farewell to his girlfriend. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by Erik’s dogs who showered us with affectionate kisses and playful jumps. After enjoying a meal of pizza prepared by Eric and watching some TV, we eagerly awaited the arrival of the rest of our team for tonight’s adventure. Eventually, Caleb and the rest of our crew arrived, and together we prepared our battle van for the evening ahead. Making a quick stop for gas, the six of us managed to squeeze into the five-person battle van. Our destination: Lynden, where we would be investigating the claims surrounding “The Goatman.”

While driving, Caleb decided to test the van's brakes and acceleration, causing sudden jolts and unexpected movements that threw us around. Despite this, Caleb found amusement in our reactions as we headed to

Lynden. The anticipation and excitement filled the van, leading to engaging conversation and jokes throughout the journey. However, as we approached our destination at the Goatman's house on 666 Badger Road, a sense of nervousness and anxiety settled in. The uneasiness became palpable as we all sat in silence, hesitant and anxiously waiting in the darkness.

At the end of the Goatman's driveway, we used our headlights to signal his trailer and get his attention. To prevent any surprise from the Goatman, we took turns watching for him from all directions while honking our horn repeatedly on the road. Despite our efforts, nothing happened when Austin opened the door and shouted swear words. We drove back and forth multiple times without any response. Eventually, we stopped again and decided it was my turn to yell something out. Reluctantly, I leaned out of the van and quickly shouted, "F*** you Goatman!" As soon as I pulled back into the van, there was a loud crash against it that terrified us. Without hesitation, Caleb hit the accelerator and we sped away as fast as possible.

Arriving at a church parking lot nearby, we examined the van and found a dent in the front. Despite our racing hearts, we decided to continue our pursuit of thrills. As we cautiously passed his driveway, we all breathed a sigh of relief since nothing happened. Continuing on, we encountered a curve in the road where an unkempt man resembling a homeless person stood by the side. In an instant, he stared at us with intensity and raised his left hand tightly clutching a large rock. Overwhelmed with fear and

panic, we cried out, "It's him! Let's get away!" Swiftly accelerating, we fled before he could hurl the rock towards us.

Despite Taylor's assurance that nothing had happened, we were convinced to return. However, our apprehension increased as we turned around and headed back. As we cautiously drove around the corner, keeping a close eye on our surroundings, a man suddenly emerged from behind a telephone pole and positioned himself in the middle of the road. This unexpected sight was witnessed by all of us. In shock, Austin exclaimed, "oh Sh*t it’s him!" In order to avoid hitting him, we swerved sharply. The Goatman quickly executed a baseball-like crow hop and forcefully threw a rock at the hood of our van. Another scream escaped from us. Caleb stepped on the gas pedal while fear consumed us; nevertheless, this thrilling experience almost tempted us to go back even further.

Everyone's hearts were pounding as we assessed the damage to the van in the Lynden high school parking lot. We quickly regained our composure when suddenly a truck appeared, turning around to face us with its headlights. Knowing we needed to leave immediately, we headed towards the parking lot exit, only for the truck to race behind us, flashing its lights and honking. Frightened, we all hid and shouted for Caleb to go faster. With adrenaline pumping, Caleb sped over the speed bumps and onto the main road in town, with the truck following close behind.

Incredibly, the next car that passed us was a Lynden police officer. As soon as the truck realized it was being watched by law enforcement, it swiftly turned onto a different road,

leaving us in the clear. A collective sigh of relief washed over us, but we remained vigilant, scanning our surroundings in case of any further threats.

We selected the Guide Meridian residence for its perceived safety with increased traffic. While traveling home, Erik received a call from an unidentified individual. Upon answering, the caller abruptly ended the conversation after three seconds. Given the unsettling events of the evening, this occurrence unsettled us further, causing us to be on high alert once again. Overwhelmed with fear, we quickly entered our house, constantly glancing behind us.

Later while playing some videogames, the idea of the Goatman leaping out from behind the telephone pole kept occupying my thoughts. That night, Austin and I discussed the exhilarating sensation and excitement caused by the fear we encountered. We lived our lives as if there was no tomorrow. Although, during the incident, it felt like we had crossed boundaries, we ultimately remained unharmed. However, occasionally when we venture out in the dark, there is still a slight fear lingering that the Goatman might suddenly materialize out of thin air, with a rock in hand.
