My goals, since my adolescence has been getting my bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications at a prestigious Fashion and Merchandise college as well as a BA in Business Management. For this will help to be a qualified competent professional fashion merchandising with my own business company as an entrepreneur. After graduation, I would like to create displays for photo shoots fashion shows, and large stores such as H&M, Forever 21 and Target. Moreover, my goal is to work on displays for other party and celebration events such as banquets and any other large events that people cherish as part of their lives.

During my period at the college, my key objective is to goal skills and knowledge required in the fashion industry. As such, the college education will help me to get and equipped with the right skills and knowledge in the real world. I enjoy and do best in Visual Merchandising class where I get lots of compliments on my creativity. I've mastered in Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks as I do most of my school projects with these programs. My skills have been rated pretty well.

the nature of this work, I think it will be prudent on my side to be an entrepreneur by coming up with my own company that will specialize in video shooting and editing as well as photo shooting for major events such as, birthday parties and music concerts. In my view, being employed will limit my salary as my employee will dictate the amount of salary to will get on a monthly basis.
On the contrary, being my own boss will be an advantage on my side as I will be in the position to bargain for the price of my products (Lea-Greenwood 47). Moreover, I will be in a position to come into direct contact with my clients and get the chance to influence them to utilize my services as well as products. The price of my products will vary depending on the time taken to produce a particular product, the cost of production, the quality of a particular product or service as well as the prevailing market price. The potential customers for my company will celebrities in the music industry, movie superstars, wedding couples, people who are conducting birthday parties and any other significant events in life.
As such, this industry is very promising as the services I would be offering such as photo shooting are very market and have a high demand in the market. To ensure that I get the competitive advantage over my close competitors, I will employ high creativity and innovation to my artistic work with the objective of crating my own niche in the market. For instance, apart from Adobe Photoshop program, I will incorporate other application in the market
depending on the current technology to ensure that I give the best to my customers.
Skills and Tools
Fashion Merchandising is a very demanding career that requires anyone willing to take this part of the career to integrate both artistic talents with technological skills that keep on changing as new programs emerge according to the demands of the market coupled with changes in tastes and preferences of the consumers. Fashion merchandisers are expected to possess high levels of creativity and innovation in his or her artistic works.
The creativity plays a significant role in visual editing, and photo shooting. According to (Kerfoot et al 143), some of the skills that are a perquisite in this industry include video editing, photo shopping, 3D extrusion as well as the mobile integration of designing programs. Currently, I am well versed with programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks which I usually utilize in accomplishing my projects at the college. Adobe Photoshop application is very important in editing and formatting visual contents such as video and graphics and photos. However, I need to acquire more skills on Indesign and fireworks since they are very broad in content coverage. Networking One of the organizations associated with the fashion industry is the YMA Scholarship Fund.
This is the company that I look up to as the model of my dream company as an entrepreneur in fashion merchandising industry. The YMFA Fashion Scholarship was founded in 1937 and it is an international non-profit corporation composed of prominent merchandisers in the industry. The main goal of the company is to take the fashion industry to another level by supporting and encouraging the talented, enterprising young
men and women to pursue their dream careers in merchandising, design retailing and business as this will help the industry to attract creative, capable and dedicated individuals. To achieve their goal, the company values scholarship opportunities as a special investment for the future of fashion and merchandising industry.
Consequently, the company has continued to support and actualize the dreams of future designers and merchandisers through offering scholarship opportunities to pursue their careers. Apart from scholarships, the company also facilitates internship with the best and prestigious fashion business companies as well career mentoring by experienced senior executives who are part of the Board of Governs of this company. I am motivated with this company as it not only provides financial support for young and upcoming arts but also acts as a training ground for the young people in this industry through mentoring and internship opportunities. Therefore, apart from establishing my company for profit purposes, I have the vision of transforming the lives of other people through financial support and also creating internship and mentorship opportunities in my company.
Future
Both upcoming and experienced fashion merchandisers get some benefits from the fashion associations. These associations offer internship as well as scholarship opportunities to aspiring fashion professionals.
Also, it provides the members with the opportunity of creating a network of professional contacts, sharing of new ideas, current trends, and emerging issues in the industry as through periodical journals. Some of the fashion and merchandising journals include Allure, Apparel News Weekly. The Associations that are popular in this industry include The International Council of Fashion Designers (CIFD) and The Costume Society of America (CSA) (Avery 67).
