In this I will compare the leaflets with two website to see the differences and similarities. The three organisations that I have chosen are Sainsbury, Morrison and somerfield.
I will look at these three organisation's leaflets and the homepages of the websites and I am going to explore the arrangement of the homepages. I will look at there house styles, presentation style, writing styles and how they could all be improved.Purpose of the Website'sThe purpose of each of these "supermarkets" websites is to give the customers a wide range of options. This means they can look at the latest products and offers on the website site.
Instead of wasting time in the supermarkets, deciding on which product to choose from they can easily make decision from home or even shop. It's convenient for p
...eople that are working long hours and don't have time for shopping, they can easily order goods over the internet. This is good because they are promoting and advertising there company over the World Wide Web. If one lives too far away from the supermarket and they really like the deals that the company is offering, they have a benefit, as they can still shop over the internet.Sainsbury, Somerfield and Morrison's are UK largest supermarkets in UK, all businesses are trying to promote new products, and there aim is to make profit. Website and leaflets are ways to promote there product and company, also advertise there offers and goods.
;I think that the online shopping is perfect for those who use it a lot; I have a lot of energy and time to go shopping, but I have only used online shopping twice
and I used It to buy clothes and I found it useful. I would only recommend it to the elderly and the middle aged people who are to busy to go shopping. The layout of each websiteSainsburyFirstly I will look at Sainsbury's homepage and describe it in detail. Sainsbury homepage is stuffed with pictures, offers and information.
Sainsbury webpage is intended to attract customers to their services and to promote their company by advertising it on the internet. Sainsbury homepage have several pictures this is to attract customers to there products, there are many title in big bold fonts; this is to take you on different pages on the website. In the middle of the page there is a big offer in orange and white colour, introducing customers to their nectar card and also promoting home insurance. These are extra promotional deals, in order to stay in the competition as they would want to beat their competitors, for example: Somerfield might not offer home insurance; this can be one attraction to he customers.Sainsbury logosHere are three different types of logo; this is because they have used different logos on each document Sainsbury website, leaflet and official website. The logo's are bold and attractive, they maintained there image through these logo, for example where ever you see orange and white, Sainsbury comes to our mind instantly.
Logos are very important because they represent the company, without a logo it will be very difficult to recognize the company, particularly in supermarket businesses, as they are all selling similar kind of productsBanner is the top of the page; it is bright and eye-catching with two links. One link is called
store locator and the other is called Sainsbury FAQs. These links are to help customers with there problems and question, as FAQ stands for "frequently asked questions" and store locator help find the nearest store. Below this banner they have a navigation bar; this navigation bar goes across the page, it is narrow and long.
Containing 10 buttons, these are Home, Food and wine, Finance, More online stores, in store now, about Sainsbury, offers, online community, careers and they have added a new button called Christmas. This is because Christmas is near, also to attract customer of new Christmas offers, Christmas gifts and other related products they have got.Navigation barThis is Sainsbury navigation bar, it is fairly simple, their should be no problem in using it, as the size of the fonts is bold and big. There are ten buttons, I have checked to see if they take me to their page, and they work, so this is good.
The size of the buttons are all different, I think this is due the length of the words. All the buttons have same font size and color, accept from the first button. Home button is the main button as home is the important webpage in the entire website. On the left hand side of the page there is a very helpful search engine.
This search engine has the same house style as compared with the rest of the homepage even website, following the same colour scheme of orange and white. However as it is a Christmas season, they have changed there orange to red. So now the buttons are red, although I do have an older screen
print of the webpage and I can confirm it was orange. This means that this website has the continuity across the pages and through the website, the buttons are clear and highlighting there purpose.
For example: "START SHOPPING" if a customer was using this website, he will find it easier to understand what this button is for.The majority of headings and offers are written in white text over the orange background. Even though the font style, colour and buttons stay consistent across the homepage providing continuity, there is isn't consistency in all of the buttons. For example navigation buttons are different to the search engine buttons. I think if the buttons were all the same colour and font; it would be easier for the customers to recognize the company products.Good points about the homepage.
* Contains many large images showing there best products, to attract the customers by mouth watering images.* Always changing there central large image, for example in Christmas seasons they have idea's room. This is to give extra attraction so that customers can look for delicious recipes.* Very consistent with the colours and fonts.
Bad Points about the homepage* This homepage haven't got enough offers to attract customer, they are more focused on heading and title to lead customers on the next page.* Font size can be a bit bigger, if an older person was visiting this website, since it is aimed at middle age and elder people, than it would be difficult for him to read.* Also the homepage haven't got enough information, there's only headings the same as links connecting to different pages.Sainsbury LeafletSainsbury leaflet has 4 pages of A4 size, these
pages are thick and shiny, this means they are good quality papers, also if it was a cheap rough sort of paper, than it shows the reflection of the company. If it has a good quality than this means that the company is not cheap and they are willing to produce expensive products.
Sainsbury has a banner on the top of the page, this banner is attracting customers, since it says great offers, this is the first thing on the banners. As the purpose of this banner is to tell people about there great offers and deals, so they can increase there customers interests in the supermarket. These leaflets are really helpful; as we all know they help us choose products and make it easier to identify what we want. Personally in my house they are very useful as we can decide on the best offers and then it are saves our time.On the top right hand corner, next to "great offers" there's a stamp, which says "Sainsbury's way to save" with the right tick. Sainsbury is trying to show people that Sainsbury is the right supermarket for them if they would want to save their money.
There are five large images on the page, each containing a picture of some sort of product. For example on the first image there's a picture of 2 apples packs. The apples are in the pack and they have got the label with the name of the company and some description of it. The image has got pictures of 2 boxes of All Gold Chocolates.
I have notices that if the offer is "buy 1 get on free" on the
apples than they have got to packs of apples. Therefore this is attracting the customers as they can be convinced from the pictures if they are not from the written offer. All the pictures are clear and big; anyone can recognize what it is, so the leaflet isn't for anyone particularly.
