Discussion

The colon cancer screening tests that are common include; colonoscopy, virtual colonoscopy, Final Occult Blood Test also referred to as Fecal Immunochemical Test, flexible sigmoidoscopy and stool DNA test. Of all the listed screening tests, colonoscopy can be seen to be the best option. e colon and above all, it enables the removal of abnormal tissues, for example, polyp and some other samples of tissues (biopsies) during the exam.

For all the other diagnosis tests, the sensitivity is lower that colonoscopy, the viewing of the whole rectum is not possible and it is not easy to remove polyps and biopsies (tissues) from the rectum. Therefore, it is clear that colonoscopy is more reliable than all the rest.

Conclusion

When choosing a screening test for colon cancer, one should be very careful since this is one of the most crucial decisions making process which may save a life. Therefore, one should go for the one that is more efficient ensure that the best results are achieved. In this paper, colonoscopy can be seen to be the best test since it is reliable, acceptable and gives predictive results.
