Being redundant is a problem, in which the author has seen an important opportunity to up skills as well as competence in business and management areas. The author has undertaken the track of up-skilling his competence as it is required significantly in order to grow in telecom industry. As per his experience in telecom field, the competence needed for career growth is considered as a triangle of equal sides; the technical, human and business knowledge represent the sides of the triangle. It is very crucial for engineers to have the competence of the triangle shape in order to grow in the telecom industry (Saris, 2014). Being a jobseeker is a problem the author should have seen it as opportunity to start for instance a small business but always has fear of taking a risk of failure. Instead the author always thinks in taking new role in the industry of his career path. This means working for someone for the rest of his life. There are many opportunities that exists in the world of telecommunication waiting for individual with massive knowledge, skills, expertise to drive and spine the globe forward. In fact the author must use the time that he has been rendered redundant as a problem that will close a page of being a jobseeker to opening a new chapter of making a statement in creating opportunities.
Indeed telecom has had many dynamics especially in the recent past something that have sent shockwaves to those who thought the sector will remain the same forever. Moreover, when the author looks at the records of individuals who have made and left an indelible mark in telecom started with fewer experience than he has. The author needs believe and courage to stop working for someone and instead be an entrepreneur. This is a journey brought to his attention after more than a decade long experience is no longer useful. This case has made the author to think beyond the horizon and reflect deeply on what other alternative existing to salvage his career.
The answer is very simple to be a job creator and not a seeker of one (Chen, 2016). After the whole problem of being jobless left the author on a crossroad to now take risk without risks

of failure. Better days of the telecom industry lies with those who in total disregards of the challenges however big decides to start their own business empire. Not only in the information communication technology but also in all other discipline that may appear attractive. All this undertaking require a sober mind to go forward, do extensive research, study, consult and passion as he indulge.

During the author latest employment which lasted for the last 10 years, he used to work in projects or operations. The environment was so challenging where his employer always concentrated on cost oppression as well as high quality of deliverables. In spite of this the organization culture was very encouraging for employees to be initiative. The influence of this on the author is that his ability to take initiative was developing every day. During these years the author took initiative many times to suggest improvement to processes and procedures that were used in projects or operations. Also the author delivered internal trainings and workshops. In many projects he found add-on sale opportunities.

Also the author used to give recommendations to customers in many assignments when he engaged closely with his employer’s customers. The author’s records in the ability to assess and initiate things especially in last ten years couldn’t be disputed. In fact the author developed many processes in the projects that he was assigned to. These processes had given very good and attractive returns. For instance developed Perl scripts to create XML file to add missing neighbours for WCDMA network using Network Explorer tool. Also Perl scripts used in sites re-homing (Saris, 2014). The author previous place of work was great and

his employer culture was tremendous. Therefore the initiating culture had brought many improvement in the organisation where he worked as well as boosting the morale of other workmates. The author had from the first day that you joined this company believed that introducing initiative programme is a step that will not only improve his reputation in his projects work but also the company at large. This after all will results to great strides made in service delivery.
Ability to analyse data quickly:

In relation to ability to analyse data quickly the author thinks he is very good in this. In his career, he was exposed to very challenging roles such as network trouble-shooter, network optimizer. The author used to investigate issues occurred on customers’ networks using system data or trend of events to come up with concrete analysis. As a result of the analysis normally the author came up with recommendations or new business opportunities. The author didn’t find opportunity to use the skills in the area of humanitarian knowledge broadly at the time he were lacking the knowledge. However he was able to lead teams, mentor and coach new colleagues successfully.

The author is not sure how to measure his creative ability; however he has evidence that he showed some intelligence during his school and university. His intelligence has helped him to understand key concepts and ideas. In secondary school the author scored a second highest grade in a region of more than 100 secondary schools. In the university, the author graduated in electrical engineering with first class honour degree as highest grade in the class. When he started his career in less than two years he

became a key technical person in the organization. The author demonstrated fast learning ability, ability to think outside the box, perseverance and professionalism. This is clear demonstration of his capacity having distinguished himself from among the rest. The author has been able to defeat criticism more importantly in areas where those with great experience have failed by his ability to employ high standard creative model. The author believes his test in as far as thinking creatively has been done so many times and he has emerged victorious and this has no doubt to testify. For instance in the position as a key technical person he has demonstrated how good being creative can sometimes work as an example, further introducing very new ideals for the good of the company. This has made goals to swift from not only being seen as mere electrical engineer to someone whose creativity can change the industry and uplift its reputation.

The author considers himself as being forward looking person, always trying to gain more experience move up in organizational hierarchy. He demonstrated forward looking through career promotions during his career with two organizations, Ericsson Ireland and Sudan Telecom. Therefore he rates himself extremely positive in this regards. Again he pursued masters in Technology and Innovation Management to strengthen career growth opportunities in his existing career or to start his own business. The author strongly believes that most of the achievement he has made owes them to being forward looking person. Had he not been vigilant in those aspects he would be very far from fitting in a world that demand more than just academic qualifications? Before the author started pursuing his

master’s degree he felt more compelled to do something that will not only take his capacity to next level but also looking forward into being more competitive. Indeed most of his achievements were founded on pillars of being forward minded person in any sector, only sky being the limit.

The author find it difficult to rate himself when it comes to optimism or pessimism. However he can admit that he is often affected by both positive and negative feelings. In negative feelings sometime he is unable to avoid blaming himself for negative emotions and associations. The author needs to learn how avoid this. He needs to learn how to actively think about what he can learn from the experience of negative feelings. Having a pre-existing idea of how to respond to negative situations can also help him in the tough moments. In fact this is a very important undertaking which have acted as a catalyst in transforming the author’s life. For example he has accepted to take many challenges in life courtesy of remaining optimistic and started seeing things from a different perspective (Benjamin and Mc Dowell, 2010). The author has learned through carefully reflecting on other people success and got surprised on how much optimism can do. Being optimistic is a significant virtue which the author has embraced with great passion to continue with that spirit as it is the basis of prosperity.

The author is normally very week in regards to feeling a sense of ownership. However in his career with Ericsson Ireland where employees were very valued and they were encouraged to feel a sense of ownership. Employees do what they love and love

what they do. The organization culture was wonderful, where taking ownership was a norm people just used to go through the motions. The author felt a sense of ownership in every single moment. However prior to that he was working for Sudan Telecom where bureaucracy was the title of the culture. In addition to that there was no equity among employee, perks, favouritism. These used to undermine a sense of ownership. Majority of employees used to feel why anyone should be an owner when others take advantage of the system.

The author has always strived being independent in almost all the areas that he showed interest in. In fact he has appreciated many good decision that have borne fruits in regards to his determination of independence something that he paid tribute to. The author has in many cases turned down opportunities which in one way or the other have offered limited chances to exercise his independence. The author feels strongly that despite working under someone else does not mean being given a small room in regards to a fore mentioned character. He will always and cherishes an atmosphere that is inclusive and accommodate all manner of people especially those who holds independence close to their hearts like him.

The author can rate himself above average in relation to the Capacity to make judgement on the basis of limited information. The author normally keeps himself fit by exercising frequently to keep the level of mental ability enough for generating the sort of health to assist him when understanding and decisions are concerned. This in term allows the author to have some appreciation of the nature and significance of

the decision that he is faced with. The author has ability to engage in reasoning and manipulate information rationally, weigh the risks and benefit of various alternative choices requiring values. During his career he demonstrated ability to analyse difficult cases that resulted in useful conclusions and recommendations.

The author can rate himself in relation to the ability to persuade others above average. The achievement and social wellness and ability to communicate exceptionally well especially back at home (Sudan) helped him to influence others to do what he want them to do, change their behaviour, or persuade them to his way of thinking. This ability made a huge difference in the author’s life and gave him a confidence and power. His ability of using the art of persuasion empowered and gave him opportunities that would be difficult or impossible to acquire otherwise. This ability gave the author the freedom to get things done and lead the lifestyle he always wanted. It also gave him the opportunity to help other people. Moreover, throughout his career he has been subjected into offering solution in one of the most difficult moments. Moments that calls for one to be in a position to persuade and mobilise other members to realise an answer. Surprisingly the author has done all this with perfection and attracted great admiration from many of his workmates. This is a very crucial capacity that the author has always applied to set his target much higher and to remain competitive in a world full of challenges.

The author’s ability to use social networks for career advantage is away above average. He normally keeps potential professional contacts by staying in touch

with current and former co-workers and recruiters. He doesn’t remember that he took an advantage of relation with managers to advance in career.

The author believes that humans cannot control their own destiny, circumstances outside of their control do. For example, people who grow up in poverty and go to bad schools are much less likely to be successful and do not get the same opportunities as those with more money and access. In spite of that human have a little ability to control how and where their lives should go by taking charge of their goals. Our destiny is not in our own hands but many peoples achievement in life have been dictated by the kind of destiny their lives took (Chen, 2016). Those who come from favourable background in life have had an upper hand in getting into good opportunities. However, those from otherwise still have hand their good share but with more effort as compared to those from elite families. Indeed destiny influence one’s career path, profession as well as behaviour.

The author rates himself in relation to capacity to work independently as extremely positive. During his career he worked independently and as well as in a team. For working independently he has the ability and the talent for managing himself, his clients and his work. The author demonstrated this during his career when delivered network upgrade, integration and customer support activities in his own. He has learned being self-reliance while working in different capacity in several companies where despite limited supervision was able to manoeuvre independently and achieve results. This is a character the author takes positively and feel as a leader in

the first place hence perform his role as if he is alone. Team work is vital in any sector to prevail but even as the author acknowledges that he throws much weight in what he does independently.

The author is quite good in imaginative use of knowledge, interpreted as something that allows him extra scope in understanding concepts, ideas, or phenomena. Basically the author uses knowledge and imagination to foresee a possibility or an opportunity out of a problem or critical situation. Hence tying imagination with knowledge has seen tremendous progress in the telecommunication industry where he works. The author has resulted into using imagining ways through his experience gained in schools and outside. Many of his positions have been made better by application of imaginative knowledge which he admires and cherishes to date.
Desire to see things through
The author rates himself extremely positive as he always has desire to see things through. During his career the author showed persistence in achieving goals in many situations. In fact many occasions in the several years that he have been in information communication sector, this attribute have made him to achieve a lot successes. This is a very unique behaviour that he applies to make judgement, creates opportunities as well as advising others in difficult circumstances. The author has always had this inner desire to make something even when there is limited space. Determination has formed the backbone in application of this philosophy.

The author manages his own projects very effectively; his own project are normally on schedule, budget and with quality that he is happy with. The author is sure that he can manage others’ project effectively too. The

author has ethics in dealing with every stakeholder, transparency in each and every communication that is customers expect by default. The author does understand the values, tradition and also he is very sensitive to the culture of working environment. In the author’s career he worked as a team member in many projects, this gave him the experience on delivering with high quality standards and often exceeded customer expectations. The author learned how to plan for his holidays well in advance and not to the last minute so that changes to the schedule can be avoided. On the other hand he used to be flexible on working weekends to schedule slippages. In many of his projects, he could double both as a player as well as his own manager. This resulted in a lot of gains from the organisation to the people who they served. The author feels proud of what being all round minded can transform from an individual to the whole society.

The author can rate himself in relation to having lots of ideas above average. He has a capacity to come up with ideas, to elaborate and think about objects or topics in a new way. In his past career of telecom industry he demonstrated a high performance and productivity, the author engaged with many sessions of brainstorming, workshops and emergency situations. Many ideas that he has offered in different capacity with various companies has made tremendous growth (Benjamin and Mc Dowell, 2010). Since the author’s evolved ideas that are able to compete with the rest of world fairly and at the same time improve ranking and performance. Many of his ideas were timely

and were consistent with time hence of great importance to whole organisation community. All this he combined with a lot of study, research and history to ensure he arrives with a well calculated thought.

The author has strong orientation to achieve and he can rate himself in relation to this extremely positive. He is always keen to look for ways to performance and deliver to exceed stakeholders. The author demonstrated this during his previous career while was working for Ericsson as well as for Sudan Telecom. He used to exceed and meet customer expectations when he was sent to work in customer premises. Moreover, he is always ready and willing to learn new things every day that aim on improving his performance. This culture he has taken it with lot optimism as it has produced massive results both locally and internationally. The author will always endeavour to maintain this standards whether he is employed or working in your own business.

Having a successful opportunity of employment, to start performing well and enhance your skills and continuing his involvement in the same track. Try to seek for opportunity of managerial roles till reach 50 to be a senior manager if not a CEO. All this goals he holds them close to his heart and he believes that he will achieve them no matter what comes in between. In fact at the age of 50 the author will have consolidated a lot of experience in management that he will not be going for anything less than a senior manager.
In case there is no successful employment the author would rather start small business, using the knowledge he acquired by pursuing

his business studies.
