I believe that abortion is a controversial issue, not only from religious and ethical perspectives but also in terms of health policy. My focus will be solely on the health policy aspects of abortion, disregarding other factors with minimal implications for healthcare.

This includes considering the cost structure when evaluating the social and financial expenses associated with the procedure. The legalization of abortion in the United States has clear societal costs, as it could unintentionally serve as population control resulting in a decline in population growth and fewer potential workers available to support an aging population.

Abortion has been a significant issue in healthcare and law for approximately 200 years. The Parliament of Great Britain and Ireland implemented the Malicious Shooting or Stabbing Act in 1803, which made abortion illegal. Additionally, in 1861, the parliament introduced the Offences Against The Person Act to impose further restrictions on abortion access.
