loves. Granny Weatherall is left at the altar on her wedding day to George, and though she feels hurt, she eventually remarries, raises a family, and lives a contented life. In contrast, Miss Emily cannot bear the rejection from Homer and resorts to murdering him in an attempt to keep him in her life. However, this decision only leads to a sad and lonely existence for her.
