When one's ambition is driven by immorality or force, it becomes unstoppable. This aspect of humanity is universally faced and was the message Shakespeare aimed to convey - that ambition brings no good or happiness. In Shakespeare's time, people from various backgrounds, whether dukes, lords, or commoners, were ambitious in their pursuit of power. They would go to great lengths, even resorting to killing family members, in order to gain dominance over others. Shakespeare's play Macbeth illustrates how ambition can corrupt individuals from all walks of life.
In today's world as well, there are stil
...l power-hungry individuals resembling Shakespeare's character Macbeth - such as Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany. A comparison between these two leaders reveals striking similarities in their hunger for power and propensity for violence which generated animosity among the people they ruled over.
Neither Hitler nor Macbeth initially had ambitions during their youth or while serving their countries. Hitler started out as a regular boy born to Alois Hitler and became an orphan after his mother died. In his early years, he had no intentions of overthrowing the government or causing any upheaval.
