There are three ways to ask questions in French:
For ex.: Do you like swimming?
1. **Inversion** (You change the word order, the verb is put BEFORE the subject. In the normal word order, the subject goes BEFORE the verb!): *Aimez-vous nager*?
2. **Est-ce que** (The word order stays the same as in an ordinary sentence, *est-ce que* comes before the subject, and the verb comes after the subject: (Est-ce que + subject + verb)
*Est-ce que vous aimez nager?*
3. **Intonation** (by making your voice go up at the end of the sentence)
*Vous aimez nager?*
The other two ways would be:
Dessines-tu bien? – Inversion
Tu dessines bien? – Intonation
What are the differences between the three?
*Est-ce que* – is a slightly informal construction. The more formal or polite way to ask questions would be with *inversion*, and using the *rising intonation* is the most informal way of asking questions.
Tu surfes sur Internet. – affirmative
Tu surfes sur Internet? – interrogative, intonation
Surfes-tu sur Internet? – Interrogative, inversion
And for this case: Est-ce que tu surfes… – interrogative with “est-ce que”
