The ongoing U.S.A presidential election has gained significant attention not only within the USA but also worldwide. This essay will explore how the internal and international media cover presidential elections, including discussions about candidates and specific policy matters that receive attention from domestic media.
In an article by Kenneth T Walsh in the New York Times, it is mentioned that a significant number of voters in the general election are dissatisfied with their choices (Fiske & Hancock, 2016). A recent poll conducted on Tuesday reveals that most Americans feel disillusioned with American politics. Many individuals question the ability of both Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump to effectively lead the country (Fiske & Hancock, 2016). Furthermore, more than 80% of people express disgust rather than excitement towards the campaign.
Both candidates are perceived as
...dishonest and have unfavorable ratings on sensitive matters. The internal media focuses on specific policies, such as equal rights for all regardless of race, economic growth, security, and health development and improvement (Fiske & Hancock, 2016). However, news from South Africa reveals how other countries view the U.S.A. elections (Goldberg, 2016). In a recent media post by Ferial Haffajee in a South African newspaper, a different case is presented. It is believed that Donald Trump is the main topic of discussion, even though the U.S.A. may potentially elect its first woman president (Goldberg, 2016). This is primarily due to Trump's controversial views.
Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have garnered significant media attention throughout the race. Trump has primarily focused on controversial topics such as constructing walls with Mexico, a subject that has dominated discussions (Goldberg, 2016). Ultimately, it falls upo
American citizens to select between these two candidates, a decision that will reflect their viewpoints on various issues and how Americans are perceived globally.
