Through perception people interpret in environment which shapes the behavior, attitude, nature of one’s personality. This interpretation of reality can be different across individuals.
It is how the people see the world by the model created by the way they perceive and attribute. The case gives an overview of the bus accident which had occurred on 16 April while on its route on Ambattur to Madras. The general manager had three reports, the first report which was policeman’s report. In his perception he gives the details of the damage caused to the bus and also about the driver who escaped after the accident took place without informing the passengers.
The second report was of RTO which states about the driver who was safe driver and involved in some minor accid
...ents in the past six months, the first one was when he hit a cyclist and the second when he drove into a ditch on a rainy night. There were no serious injuries caused to anyone. He also says that, Thangavelu the driver was irresponsible as he left the spot as soon as accident took place without informing the passengers and even he was found having toddy soon after the accident occurred. The third report was of the driver who says that he cares about the passenger hence he went in search of telephone to contact the police but he was unable to find. In his report he claims that to avoid the stray cows he hit the bus accidently.
He exclaims that he had returned to the spot but till that everything was cleared and he is trustworthy. Since he was too tired he decided to have toddy
to sooth his nerves. . In this case the focal issue is of the driver who left the passengers without informing them. He seems to be irresponsible in his duty. Thangavelu should have informed the passengers that he is going to call the police or else he would have sent someone in search of the telephone to call the police.
So the passengers would have trusted him. Here it shows the distinctiveness of the driver who acts different in different situation. In case of passengers, their perseverance was negative regarding the driver who was not a trusted person and left the passengers panic on the incident place. They were unable to do anything to help them out of the situation as they were in shock. Passengers seem that they were not happy with the driver as he was unable to do his duty.Manager’s decision in this case would be he should analyze and interpret the entire situation with regards to driver, policeman, passengers and RTO and should come to the conclusion as the perception of different individual varies as the reality of any person is constantly evolving and is filled with parallel streams of equivocal cues.
He should see that the driver is a good and faithful person or not so that he can take a right decision and through the perseverance of others.
