What is Second World War?
The Second World War was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945 and involved most of the world’s nations, including all of the great powers: Germany, Japan, Italy, Britain, France, the United States and the Soviet Union. The war resulted in an estimated 50 million military and civilian deaths worldwide. It is considered one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. The roots of World War II can be traced back to various political and economic disagreements between countries leading up to its start in September 1939 with Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland. This action was followed by declarations of war from many other European countries as well as Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 which brought the United States into the war. Many factors fueled this brutal conflict such as nationalism among different countries, racial hatred towards minorities such as Jews and Roma people in Europe by Hitler’s Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), territorial disputes over control of resources or land claims abroad, militarism (Germany had been secretly re-arming itself since 1935) and alliances between certain countries like Germany’s Axis alliance with Italy and Japan during WWII. Throughout this period there were several major battles fought such as The Battle Of Britain where British forces repelled German aerial attacks for months; Stalingrad where Russian troops defended their city against German invaders; D-Day when Allied forces launched an invasion on Normandy Beach; And Hiroshima & Nagasaki when atomic bombs were dropped ending Japanese resistance after 6 years at war. After six long years full of death destruction despair finally came to an end with surrender from both sides marking official victory for Allied Forces but also leaving millions dead wounded destitute or displaced from their homes around globe thus making it one deadliest wars ever fought mankind till date still bearing consequences today despite being over 70+ years ago.
