What is Physical Science?
Physical Science is the study of phenomena that involve matter and energy. It includes topics such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, and meteorology. Physical science seeks to explain how these things interact with one another in order to understand the laws of nature. Physical science often works hand-in-hand with other scientific disciplines such as biology and earth sciences in order to gain a better understanding of the physical world around us. The core principles of physical science include thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, optical properties, nuclear forces, relativity theory and statistical mechanics. All these fields are often connected by common threads related to energy transfer or conservation. For example; thermodynamics deals with how heat moves from hot objects to cold ones while quantum mechanics investigates how particles behave at an atomic level. The fundamental concepts behind each field can be used together in order to build up a comprehensive picture of our universe and its behavior across different timescales. Some examples of research topics within physical science include black holes, dark matter/energy theory, cosmology (the study of the origin and evolution of our universe), string theory (which attempts to describe all four fundamental forces using mathematical models) and nanotechnology (using tiny particles for engineering purposes). All these areas require scientists who specialize in mathematics and complex calculations so they can build accurate models describing natural phenomena at both macroscopic and microscopic levels. In conclusion; physical science is an ever-evolving field which requires new theories based on strong evidence obtained through experimentation or observation in order for it to progress further into unlocking some mysteries about our universe’s behavior over time scales ranging from fractions of seconds up until billions years ago when galaxies were first formed.
