What is Non Verbal Communication?
Nonverbal communication is a type of communication that occurs without words and can include body language, gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, posture and more. Nonverbal communication conveys messages through unspoken means and plays an important role in how people interact with each other. It can be used to convey emotions, attitudes, intentions and even thoughts.Nonverbal cues are particularly important when it comes to understanding one another’s feelings and intentions. For example, most people know the difference between a genuine smile and a forced one the former conveys happiness while the latter may signal something else entirely. Additionally, nonverbal communications such as crossed arms or tense shoulders often indicate discomfort or annoyance whereas open body language denotes receptiveness or openness. Studies suggest that up to 90 percent of our interactions involve non-verbal communication in some way; therefore it is essential for effective communication between two individuals to understand what these signals mean in order to accurately interpret them. In addition to being aware of your own nonverbal cues (such as eye contact), you should also pay attention to those around you noticing any changes in their behavior which could indicate something about their attitude towards the conversation at hand. Interpreting others’ nonverbal signals can help you not only detect hidden meanings behind spoken words but also build trust by showing that you’re truly listening and paying attention. This can help create positive relationships because it demonstrates respect for both parties involved in the interaction while providing valuable insight into what they might really be thinking or feeling at any given time. Overall, learning how to recognize different types of non-verbal communication is crucial for building strong interpersonal connections with others whether it’s within a business setting or simply interacting with friends or family members on a daily basis.
