What is Nausea And Vomiting?
Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms that can occur for a variety of reasons, from indigestion to more serious conditions. While nausea and vomiting are usually not serious, they can be very unpleasant and may require medical attention in some cases.Nausea is the feeling of wanting to vomit or having an upset stomach. It is often accompanied by other symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Nausea can be caused by many different things including motion sickness, medication side effects, food poisoning or allergies, viral infections such as the flu or norovirus,, overeating or eating certain types of food such as spicy foods, gastritis (stomach inflammation), pregnancy morning sickness , migraine headaches or certain medical treatments or procedures. Vomiting is the forcible expulsion of stomach contents through the mouth. It is often accompanied by nausea but can also occur without it. Vomiting can be caused by many different things including motion sickness , food poisoning , migraines , gallbladder disease , appendicitis , ulcers , excessive alcohol consumption , certain medications side effects , virus (such as norovirus) infection in the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) and brain disorders like meningitis. In some cases it may even be triggered by emotional stress. Treatment for nausea and vomiting depends on their cause but might include medications to reduce nausea or relieve stomach discomfort; resting; drinking clear fluids; avoiding foods that trigger symptoms; using ginger supplements ; applying cool compresses to your forehead ; getting plenty of rest; avoiding strenuous activities until you feel better ; getting acupuncture treatment ; taking anti-nausea drugs like metoclopramide hydrochloride (Reglan); increasing fluid intake; keeping cool if feeling hot ; eating small meals throughout the day instead of large meals once a day; avoiding caffeine and other stimulants. If your symptoms persist for more than 24 hours it’s important to seek medical attention in order to rule out any underlying health issues that could be causing them.
