What is Light?
Light is a natural phenomenon that has always been essential for life and progress on earth. It has been used for thousands of years to help people see in the dark, make art and even cure illnesses. Light is also used in modern-day technology like television, telecommunication and information transmission. Light plays an important role in our lives both physically and psychologically. Physically, light helps us to see clearly without straining our eyes or using energy to illuminate a room with artificial light sources. Sunlight also provides us with Vitamin D which is necessary for healthy bones and teeth as well as providing warmth during winter months when days are shorter and nights longer. Additionally, daylight can be harnessed to produce electricity through solar power systems which are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative energy source due to their cost efficiency and environmental friendliness. Psychologically, light has been proven to affect moods positively by making us feel more alert and energetic during the day while helping us relax at night so we can get better sleep quality. Studies have shown that exposure to bright sunlight can reduce stress levels by stimulating the production of serotonin – known as the happy hormone. Additionally, it’s believed that exposure to natural light helps improve focus which benefits those who work from home or study remotely due to its ability to stimulate good concentration levels over extended periods of time compared with other forms of artificial lighting such as fluorescent bulbs or LEDs.
