What is Intercultural Communication?
Intercultural communication is the process by which people from different cultures, backgrounds and experiences communicate with each other. It encompasses a wide range of activities that help bridge the gap between individuals from different cultures, races and backgrounds. Intercultural communication can be done both verbally and nonverbally, through media such as television, radio, newspapers, magazines and Internet-based social networks.Intercultural communication helps to promote understanding among people who may not share common values or beliefs. It also helps to foster acceptance between groups of different cultural backgrounds. Intercultural communication encourages mutual respect for one another’s customs, beliefs and values. Through this process of sharing information between cultures, individuals gain an increased appreciation for diversity in all forms of life. This appreciation can lead to more productive relationships with peers in other countries or even within one’s own community or organization. Intercultural communication is an important part of globalization as it brings together diverse perspectives that would otherwise remain isolated from one another due to language barriers or geographical differences. By allowing individuals to understand the nuances and intricacies associated with different cultures, intercultural communication provides a platform for collaboration across boundaries that might have previously seemed insurmountable due to cultural divides. As such, intercultural communication has become increasingly essential in business operations today where technology has made global collaborations easier than ever before.
