What is Hydrogen And Oxygen?
Hydrogen and oxygen are two of the most abundant elements on Earth. They are both essential to life and make up a large portion of air, water, and other organic materials. Hydrogen is the simplest element and is found in almost every molecule on earth. It makes up around 75% of the universe’s mass. Oxygen is also important to life, as it accounts for around 20% of atmospheric gases and over half of all living cells contain it.On its own, hydrogen has no color or odor, but when combined with oxygen it forms water (H2O). This combination creates an energy-rich compound that can be used in a variety of ways. In nature, hydrogen and oxygen combine in photosynthesis to form glucosea sugar that plants use for energy. Humans also rely on this chemical reaction to extract energy from food such as carbohydrates and fats. When burned together as fuel source in certain engines, hydrogen combines with oxygen to form heat energy that powers cars or other machines. In industry hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) may be used as an oxidizing agent or disinfectant while liquid oxygen can act as a coolant for metals in some industrial processes. In addition to their practical uses, hydrogen and oxygen are at work behind some fascinating natural phenomena like ice crystals forming from water vapor or the aurora borealis shimmering across night skies during winter monthsboth caused by electrons reacting with molecules made from these two elements when exposed to solar radiation. In short, without hydrogen and oxygen life could not exist on Earthor anywhere elseand these two elements play an important role in many different areas including industry, transportation, science research, and even natural beauty.
