What is Electrical Engineering?
Electrical Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. It covers a wide range of sub-disciplines including power systems, control systems, signal processing and communications. Electrical Engineers are involved in many aspects of modern life; designing electrical circuits for computers, phones and other electronic devices; developing new techniques to generate or store energy efficiently; managing large-scale power grids; creating communication networks; assisting with medical diagnoses and treatments through the use of advanced imaging equipment. In addition to these activities, Electrical Engineers apply their knowledge to fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), nanotechnology and renewable energy sources. To become an Electrical Engineer there are several educational paths one can take. Most programs require a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college. After completing a degree program, individuals must pass licensing exams before they can practice professionally as licensed engineers. Many colleges offer specialized courses which can help students build expertise in specific areas within the profession such as digital design or communications network engineering. The career outlook for Electrical Engineers is quite promising due to advances in technology that have created opportunities for engineers to develop innovative solutions for complex problems across multiple industries. With advancements in automation technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), demand for skilled professionals who understand how to create intelligent machines has increased significantly over recent years making it even more important for aspiring engineers to stay up-to-date on trends within their industry so they don’t miss out on potentially lucrative job opportunities when they arise.
