What is Art of Africa?
Art of Africa is a form of visual expression that has been used by African cultures for centuries. It is a way to communicate stories, beliefs, and ideas. African art ranges from sculptures and masks to pottery and jewelry. Many of the traditional pieces are made with natural materials such as wood, clay, plants, shells, feathers, and stones. The Art of Africa reflects its rich cultural heritage that dates back thousands of years. African art often incorporates symbols or motifs that are meaningful to the culture it represents. For example, in many African cultures there is an emphasis on animals which can be seen in the carvings used in rituals or ceremonies as well as in everyday objects like jewelry and clothing decorations. Symbols such as circles may represent the sun or moon while curving lines represent rivers or fertility. African art has been influential in many different ways throughout history including visual arts movements like Cubism which was heavily influenced by traditional African sculpture styles known for their geometric shapes and angular forms. It has also had an impact on music with instruments like drums being inspired by traditional percussion instruments found throughout Africa. Africa has a rich artistic tradition that continues to influence contemporary art today through its vibrant colors and bold shapes so even if you don’t live there you can still enjoy its beauty.
