Self-reflection is the act of analyzing one's thoughts and emotions ("Self-reflection", 2020). This practice has had positive effects in various areas of my life. Despite not always being enjoyable, accepting and embracing the lessons learned through self-reflection have aided in my personal growth. Regardless of whether the outcome was favorable or unfavorable, self-reflection has played a crucial part in my overall individual development.

Self-reflection is essential in personal and professional contexts, particularly for leaders who serve as role models for their team members. This has a significant impact on various aspects of a business or organization. Based on my extensive 34-year experience in the healthcare industry, I have come to realize the importance of different leadership styles in promoting teamwork and ultimately influencing patient treatment (Dodson, 1998-2020). that we are all on this journey together.

Based on my personal experience, I have realized the importance of building trust with leaders. When conflicts arise among staff members, it is crucial for leaders to address and resolve them in order to create a positive environment. Currently, as I pursue a Master of Healthcare Administration and participate in my "Leading With Authenticity in the Health Sector" class, I have gained valuable insights into areas that need improvement. By making these improvements, not only am I contributing to my own personal growth but also enhancing my interactions with others, promoting positivity both personally and professionally. It is essential to honestly acknowledge areas that need improvement, take necessary steps, and witness the transformation into becoming a better individual.

Self-reflection is something that could benefit all humans. My interaction with self-reflection can be best described by a quote I recently came across: “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom—Aristotle” (Good Reads, 2020).
