"My heart longs to be home, my comrades’ hearts as well" (Homer 10. 533). With a strong desire to reach his homeland after twenty years away, Odysseus leads his crew through the difficulties and obstacles they encounter.
Odysseus is not only a strong warrior, but he also perseveres in his journey and treats his guests well. He is a legitimate Greek hero, known for his athleticism and mental strength. As Homer describes, "He steeled himself instead, his mind in full control" (17. 260).
Through complete mastery of his own thoughts, he possesses complete understanding of his actions and how to exercise self-control in suitable ways. He maintains control over his emotions and possesses the knowledge of when and how to respond in specific circumstances. As depicted in Homer's work, when struck by Antinous, Odysseus remains unaffected, standing firm and resolute, unmove
...d by the blow. He simply shakes his head in silence, while his mind churns with plans for retaliation (Homer 17. 10-518).
Despite being hit, Odysseus remained unaffected and stood with a steady stance. He stayed silent even after taking a hit to the shoulder, demonstrating his ability to maintain control over his mind and body and revealing his strong character. Odysseus fits the attribute of athleticism, which is one of the qualities of a Greek hero. Upon returning home, Odysseus is given the chance to prove himself to his wife, Penelope.

The challenge presented was for Odysseus to effortlessly pick up his bow and string it.
The suitors mocked Odysseus, but he proved them wrong by effortlessly handling the great bow. Like a skilled singer adjusting the strings of his lyre, Odysseus strung the
mighty bow with expert ease (Homer 21. 451-456). Despite the mocking, Odysseus confidently examined his weapon and successfully strung it, surprising the suitors who doubted his ability.
According to Homer (21. 447), the suitors closely watched as Odysseus skillfully maneuvered the bow, unable to replicate his dexterity. This observation suggests that Odysseus is exceptionally skilled. Additionally, Odysseus displays the trait of hospitality, always treating his guests and friends with kindness, regardless of the circumstances.
Odysseus tells Eurylochus to remain by the black ship and enjoy himself, while he goes off to fulfill his obligations. He reassures Eurylochus that he can still be hospitable to their guests, despite having many responsibilities to attend to (Homer 10. 299-301).
Despite being trapped on Calypso's Island, Odysseus showed respect towards her. He responded to her, saying, "'Ahh, great goddess,' worldly Odysseus answered, 'don't be angry with me, please. All that you say is true, how well I know. Look at my wife Penelope."
Despite her shortcomings compared to you, he still longs to go home,’” (Homer 5. 251). By complimenting and treating her kindly even when she does undesirable things to Odysseus, he demonstrates his hospitality. In conclusion, based on the evidence I have presented, I believe that Odysseus deserves the title of “Greek Hero”.
Odysseus is deserving of a standing ovation for being a remarkable Greek epic hero due to his strength, both physical and mental, athleticism, strong-willed nature, and his hospitality towards his guests.
