Have you ever found yourself reading a passage online and getting distracted with an ad pop up? The article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicholas Carr explains why the web is messing with people’s head. Carr acknowledges that technology does assist human skills but knows it has it’s negative aspects as well. People rely on technology so much that Carr believes it’s making us stupid. For example in math class, we rely on the calculators technology, that we need it to multiply or divide larger number for us. Think about it? How is a student going to learn if they can’t perform the same procedures a calculator does?

The company's mission is to gives us accessible pieces of information that we can learn from and make us better thinkers. There are times where we don’t have anything to do that we go into the web to see videos, videos that have ads every 2 minutes, television where commercials show advertising, and magazines that now have certain amounts of text because people don’t want to read long articles anymore.
We fall into the webs trap by the more links we click, Google feeds from us at the fact we’re collecting information every single day. Google for example gains information from us by knowing our history of searches and links we’ve clicked, then they later on feed us. They feed us with more advertising based on what we do on the web. It’s an ongoing process so the more we feed them the more information they gather from us. The world is so used to technology that we don’t take the time take to even read or critical think through our question. It’s all on everyone’s personal choices and it’s their problem if they want to overcome the fact that they have to rely on the web every single time.
