The fact that I am currently studying in the United States is evidence of his efforts in shaping me into an exceptional individual within society.Throughout my life, my mother has consistently provided me with support and comfort during times of emotional setbacks. In seventh grade, when our English teacher left, a mishap occurred as we hurried outside for lunch and someone accidentally pushed me, resulting in my shorts tearing. Overwhelmed by the ensuing laughter, I swiftly ran home and sought solace within the confines of my bedroom. The next day, feigning illness to avoid school until my mother discovered what had transpired and came to discuss it with me. Since then, I have consistently confided in her about my experiences.

As the eldest in our family, there is an inherent sense of responsibility placed upon me. Despite moments where I may not have been able to offer guidance to my brother, he still looks up to me. However, now as an adult, I believe that I have sufficiently made amends for those shortcomings.

During adolescence, numerous challenges arose—particularly during high school—where situations filled with violence forced me to align myself with specific groups or individuals. It was crucial for me not to join any gangs in my

neighborhood while also avoiding being labeled as a nerd. Discovering my own identity played a vital role during this phase of life and thankfully, my supportive and caring family played an invaluable part.

Surrounded by friends who constantly carried knives and urged me to join their pursuit of easy money eventually led to one evening where I succumbed and agreed to accompany them on their escapades.We successfully broke into a local shop and stole the cash, but as we were about to flee, the door unexpectedly swung open. The owner, accompanied by a group of men, attacked us. I managed to escape by swiftly crawling between his legs towards the door, while two of my friends tried to flee through a window but got injured by shards of glass. Despite all managing to get away, I made a personal promise never to participate in such criminal activities again. My future would be shaped by education rather than violence.

Growing up in Vietnam not only influenced my personality but also instilled within me a strong sense of national pride. I take great pride in my country - its people, culture, and heritage – as these values define both my identity and ethnicity. Vietnamese society emphasizes honesty, trustworthiness, and truthfulness which greatly molds individuals exceptionally. My love for Vietnam runs deep; consequently, I plan on returning after completing my studies.

Leaving Vietnam for the United States was painful. At the airport, I vividly remember waving goodbye to my family and friends before boarding the plane. Overwhelming emotions of loneliness and sadness consumed me. However, my father's constant reminder to always persevere through difficulties resonated deeply with me.
It became evident to

me that I needed to relentlessly pursue my academic aspirations in order to eventually return to my cherished homeland, Vietnam. The breathtaking beauty of this country holds a special place in my heart; however, regrettably, the government has failed its citizens by neglecting crucial policies. Those in power have disregarded or manipulated constitutional rights, thus denying people their freedom of speech and expression. Additionally, the media is under control and used as a tool to promote government-friendly news.

I firmly believe that it is essential to educate individuals about their rights and how they can safeguard them. The government should not exploit its authority for personal agendas; instead, laws should be enacted for the betterment of citizens' lives. Despite these formidable challenges, my determination remains unwavering.

My ultimate aim is to return to Vietnam one day and actively contribute towards creating a better society for all residents. In conclusion, my deep passion for Vietnam motivates me to lead a purposeful life supported by both my parents and society at large. They have shielded me from failure and detrimental influences such as drugs while instilling moral integrity and sociability within me.

The undeterred support of others has played a pivotal role in my academic achievements. I possess a strong desire to collaborate with fellow Vietnamese people in improving our country's quality of life. I understand that achieving these goals will necessitate persistence and hard work; nevertheless, I am confident in my dedication and commitment towards attaining them.
