How Heroes are Made Jason Williams Mr.. Christiansen English 12 period 6 May, 2nd 2014 There are many types of heroes in this world. They all go out and strive to make the world a better place for the rest of us. The Journey is never easy, but the fulfillment you get after you finish this Journey Is more then enough reason to go on this quest.

A true heroes Journey Is to help people with anything they can and to try and better every persons life that they come across, because that right there Is a the true definition of a heroes journey. Growing up I was a wild child. I lived on a farm with herself most the time than anything else around her.

My father has never really been in the p

icture, my mother and him got divorced when I was really young. He never really made an effort to be there for me. As a result, his three monsters were left to be raised by one dictator to decide who was right and who was wrong.

Since I was the youngest, no matter what I did was always wrong when it came to disagreements at my house. Trustworthiness and belief was dictated by age in my household. I could be completely telling the truth, but if my brother or sister said I as lying, I would get punished for lying and be punished for actions I did not commit.

Did I also mention our dictator off mother was an alcoholic? Half the time she would be out at the bar while I was left with my two siblings in charge

of me (which meant I was getting beat up or off on my own, creating my own adventure to by myself outside).

I enjoyed my alone time, it was the only time I was the hero and not person everyone was out to get. As a result of never having my mom there, I was an easy target for bullies like my older siblings to pick on. This is partially what helped me grow up to be so independent.

I rarely call on others to ask for help because anytime I would ask for help in my family, I was told to either figure it out myself or I was completely ignored.

I often had to find a way to do things my own way and I became good at it. The lack of a fatherly fugue and my household made me very independent from an early age. Its very hard for a kid to have the same father as your two siblings and not be cared for by one of the people who put you into this world, but sometimes that's Just how life goes. There were multiple reasons why me and my father had such a bad relationship.

He would never forget to send my brother and sister birthday and Christmas presents and calling them on their birthday but he always seemed to forget about me. He would call my mom and ask to talk to my brother and sister but half the time he would forget to talk to me which made me think he never loved me. My siblings also didn't help. They would tease me and tell me that I

was dropped off my the Fed-Ex truck. After hearing that as much as I did, you start to believe it.

For a while in my life I actually believed my dad wasn't my dad, but I never let that stop me. I actually used it as motivation.

When I was younger my plan was to become a rich and famous so I could rub it in his face that the one kid he didn't support was the one who became rich and famous. Those dreams died about the time I hit high school when my brother and sister had moved out of the house. Since he never bothered to call I didn't either.

I guess that's one thing me and him have in common. Really the only good relationships I have had with people are with my grandma and my friends. As a kid my grandma was really the only person I could rely on and trust until I made some good friends while I grew older.

After looking back on my life Vive noticed that as a child I was Greened.

I really think its good for people to look back at their childhood more often and really analyze it. It can teach you the things about yourself you didn't quite know. I know I didn't have a perfect childhood, but I made the best of what I had everyday and it has truly helped me through life. I see lots of myself in Greened. I envied people who had "the perfect life" and who got good grades like how Greened envied the goat for his pursuit up the hill.

We envied these things

because they were on the right path o pursue their happiness while Greened and I were trying to find our places in our become what I am in this world now if it wasn't for other people.

My biggest similarity to Greened is that we are both looking for emotional and spiritual fulfillment. I have always had this belief in religion, like Greened, but overtime I start going to church and become a good little follower I feel even less spiritually fulfilled and I end up going back to being agnostic (which is believing in a higher power but not knowing what that higher power is).

I get emotional fulfillment from the love I get from my friends and my girlfriend. My life could have never been the same without most of them. Another thing me and Greened have in common is that we don't know our place in this world.

I have been in Greened shoes many times. I have been there standing on the cliff wondering why I was given the gift of life instead of someone else. The difference I have had with Greened is I actually tried to Jump, but I failed and woke up in my bed, right where I started, which I will forever be grateful for because if I would have succeeded I would have hurt to many people in the process.

This is one thing I have never really told anyone, but at the time it felt like the only ay I was ever going to stop feeling sorrow. I believe that when people get put into these moods they need a good scare like really dying so

that they really appreciate the finer things in life like having good friends that will always be there for you when you need them.

Sometimes life gets Shiite at points, but it really does become better as long as you try. If you don't try to make things better for yourself and you don't look at things from the brighter side of life you may Just end up in an endless cycle of sadness.

Even though you never completely forget about being depressed for the early stages of your life, it will help mold you into a man. Like state radio would say "Many don't need no comforting he don't need no comforting he don't ask of the world to bring him up anti goanna see him waiting' on waiting' on. " The reason why he doesn't need no comforting or to ask the world to bring him up is probably because he is always looking on the brighter side of life. One of the big differences me and Greened have is that Greened starts to be more like the dragon after he has his first encounter with him.

I see the dragon as a dark god. He reason why I see him as a ark got is because he's telling Greened pretty much to fight the humans and steal as much gold as you can when he says "My advice to you is to, my violent friend, is to seek out gold and sit on it," and also when he is telling Greened and the humans are destine to be pitted against each other. (l would have found what the dragon truly says but

I don't have a book and I can't find it on the internet. ) I started off life as a bully like Greened.

I went around picking on kids, like Greened did to the goat and probably other creatures too, to get the little bit of enjoyment out of it.

I wasn't a complete bully at heart and neither was Greened. I was nice to my friends and anyone that was nice to me. I Just started off in the wrong crowd to early, kind of like how Greened went down the wrong path of life in the beginning when he went past the boundaries that his mother had set and got stuck in the tree.

I remember in elementary school I had a few different groups of friends, but one I hung out with more often than the other. The first group took me in because I didn't really have any friends I hung out with at school.

I was a loner which is weird to think about now because I have since then always had friends, but back then I was the kid who didn't ilk to a lot of people and would go and sit by myself and let my imagination take because he didn't have that many friends either. That was when my reign of trouble began.

We were a group of kids with rough childhoods who thought it was alright to pick on others because we weren't loved enough by our own families. I was a follower which ended up getting me into a lot of trouble. I also wasn't the bright one.

If we had a problem with someone

Tremor would either send me to fight them or our an ever growing group of elementary thugs would all go and get them. Along the way I got tired of being a getting in trouble.

I made a few more really good friends, Soiree and Taylor. These two girls could have saved me from going down the troubled path full of detentions, but I Just couldn't tell my friends that I would rather be a good kid and play house with the girls then go around bullying kids. This actually started a fight between me and the kids I use to be in this gang of elementary with.

Afterwards I ended up talking with Tremor and we worked things out. They took me from my other two friends who were good kids that Just wanted to play house, and they got me back into the game of being the school yard bullies. I really regretted that choice, because the next year Soiree had to move away and Taylor was all alone to find new friends.

Since Taylor was an odd girl (and not a very good looking one) she had a hard time making more friends. I have always regretted leaving my friends for the trend. I was a mean kid back then, but I had a soft side for people who didn't really have a place in this world.

I always have had that soft side, and I think that's why I got so into Greened and really focused when we learned about him. I truly think Greened has opened my eyes and showed my why we need to are for the people who

aren't cared for enough at their homes.

I can tell you from experience what it's like when you're not cared for enough; you begin to shut out the world around you. Vive learned from my past that when you start shutting out the world, you have a hard time making new friends. When you have a hard time making new friends (especially while you have a rough home life) you feel like no one is there for you.

Though in reality, there are people out there to befriend, all you've got to do is ask. Friends will listen to and care for you, and soon enough the feeling of hopelessness and being alone will diminish. Soon after that, you can continue to pursue your happiness and one day you can become something amazing, even if only one person thinks it.

It's a splendid feeling, knowing how you have altered someone life in a positive way, and the way they will forever remember you as being that person that potentially saved them from living in their own hell that they have created.

I have spent my whole life wondering things like, "why am I on this earth? " and, "what is my point of being here? ". So far I have only come to these conclusions: I am here to on this earth to make people happy, to help them when they feel down. I am here to be the best friend I can be to anyone, because everyone needs a good friend they can trust.

I believe I am here to attempt to help fill the gap everyone has, the need for someone to be

there for them. And that itself is a hero Journey I have already began. There are multiple types of hero Journeys. There is the hero story like the story of the David and Goliath.

In this type of story the main character becomes the hero after achieving one great task. Which this is no little task taking out a giant with a piece of string and a rock. This type of story is quite interesting. It is a type of hero story to motivate people to never give up hope and that anything is possible. Story. Then there is the never ending hero Journey like what Superman had to embark, a never ending hero Journey where there will always be another monster to face.

These types of stories the hero sometimes is indestructible except has one weakness that can kill them. So in other words all these heroes all have a krypton.

The other type of hero that embarks on this type of Journey is the type that has the potential to die every time he risks his life but he always finds a way through. This type of hero usually either Just disappear or eventually die of old age. This is usually a sad way to go, but they are always remembered because of the great duties they have done to better their civilization.

Then there is the trials Journey where you have to go through so many trials before you can finally be considered a true hero. My favorite example of this is Darrel Shaman from the Cirque dad Freak series.

He is truly my favorite hero from a book. The reason for

this is because he went on so many adventures where he almost ends up dying Just to find out that his rival that he was o become the dark lord and destroy all of humanity.

Even though he was a vampire he felt he was still human. He also was tricked into becoming the dark lord. It was either him or his nemesis, who use to be his best friend, to become the dark lord so he killed off his old friend that got corrupted by evil and before he let the powerful force turn him into the dark lord, he took his own life to save humanity for a couple hundred more years.

Which was a very selfless act because he wasn't human and he could have taken over the world. Even though the humans weren't his own race, he till took his own like Just so they could continue forward in their Journey of evolution.

The last type of hero Journey is the type that ends in death. This type of hero story I think makes the best types of stories. This type of hero normally doesn't think of himself as a hero and, sometimes neither do others. These types of hero stories the hero usually has one big moment of glory before he dies a hero, usually he kills the monster before or while he is dying.

In some cases, like Achilles, the hero knows he has a great skill but still can't completely call himself a hero. This type of hero is usually either loved or hated by the people. This type of hero is usually a great person, but they

usually have an emotional problem or a spiritual problem. Its not always they have an inner problem. At times its something like they don't want to hurt people because they can't control their own strengths, and other times its something like they think the public will not like them for one reason or another.

These hero stories sometimes are more sad than some of the other types of hero stories, but you get to connect with the character better. These ones ,a lot of the time, don't end after they kill the monster. These stories usually go on past those parts and they end with the hero dying trying to do one last noble cause. I think the reason why I like these stories the most is because they always have such a great story and plot, and the the hero always has a noble death instead of the hero growing old and dying of old age or disease. Don't get me wrong its great when the hero survives.

When the hero dies a great noble death there is a better chance he will be remembered through the years.

When a hero survives and grows old the people who remember him the most are the people who were around through his age. Then those stories become typical stories after a few generations and die out eventually, but when heroes go out in their prime their act of valor is remembered killed many people but was struck in his Achilles heel and bled to death as he was trying to save the women he had recently fallen in love with. Another good example is King Leonia

and his three hundred Spartan. Which was really more like five thousand but I like the story more with three hundred. ) They slowed down and partially held off more an army and a military with a estimation of about two and a half million Persians or more led by their king Xeroxes. The Spartan ranks were few but very tough, but their Lemonade's Spartan got overtaken when the Persian army discovered a hidden trail that led so they could use their main battle tactic, which was to outnumber the enemy.

Leonia was such a great leader that even after the Persians had won the battle, Spartan soldiers fought over Lemonade's dead body to bring it back for a proper burial.

The hero often has a task ahead of them that seems impossible, and sometimes is, but they wouldn't be called heroes if they didn't at least attempt this task this task. See what it means to be a hero is to put everyone else before you, get pitted up against unbeatable odds, and somehow find a way to overcome those odds to change even at least one life for the better. No matter how dangerous those odds are, a true hero will always do everything in their power to achieve their goal. This is why every child wants to grow up to be a hero.

They want people to new them, to respect them, and admire them not Just for them being them, but also for what they have done to better the world. Everyone should strive to be a hero because the feeling you get when you know you have truly changed someone's

life for the better is a lifelong feeling of satisfaction. Just that in itself should be enough reward to make any true hero at heart accept the call of adventure and embark on a Journey that one day could go down in history as one of the most heroic adventures of there time. The hero Journey comes in all different shapes and sizes.

It can be realistic, like someone struggles through college and has a big test that is their monster.

They use the skills they have of studying to overcome this monster. Or it can be like the story of Carols Hatcheck who was a real life sniper in the Vietnam war. He was a good sniper but a better soldier. When he was riding in an amphibious vehicle with is squad, they ran over an anti-tank mine. After he woke up in the from being knocked unconscious from the explosion and escaping the burning vehicle he went back in and saved the other seven members of his squad.

He received a silver star, not for his ninety-three confirmed kills, but for saving all seven members of his squad from the burning vehicle which otherwise would have been where those soldiers died if it wasn't for him. Carols Hitchcock will always be remembered in the U. S. Mariner's history as the greatest sniper of his time. Not every hero Journey is a big long trip.

Sometimes there is barely any time between noticing before you have completed the quest, but it can also take your whole lifetime to complete a hero Journey.
