The thinking and researching on eating, physical activity, sedentary behaviors, and obesity have been guided until recently by biological and psychological models and theories focusing on individuals, families, and small social groups such as friends and coworkers (Sallis, J. F., & Glanz, K, 2009)

Cheaper Food

1. We spend more money on food than other miscellaneous. Fast food away from home compared to 48% in 2009.2 African American households spends 39% of their total food budget away from home. Foods consumed away from home are typically more calorically dense and higher in fat and have been associated with increased body mass index and weight gain.4, 5 (Lee, S. H., Hoffman, V. A., Bleich, S. N., & Gittelsohn, J,2012)

As a percentage of total food spending, money spent away outside the home was twenty-five percent in 1970, forty percent in 1995, forty-seven and a half percent in 1999, and estimated to reach fifty-three percent in 2010” (Frazier, D. A. 2007).

2. We spend more money eating outside than on groceries that contain the health nutrients we need and that is a bad habit that we have to change. We are going to

3. I cook every day simple meals and I eat healthy so my family can be healthy as well. I only eat fast food once a month to take a break.

It is considered particularly important to engage with parents of young children, since they have responsibility for establishing the eating habits of the next generation” (Cook, J. There is strategy to learn how to cook and get improving to eat healthy by starting cooking easy things. cooking courses vary greatly in their organization, content, and delivery and they often lack an evaluation framework [17]. Thus, developing a program which targets the main barriers to healthy eating (Garcia, A. L., Reardon, R., Hammond, E., Parrett, A., & Gebbie-Diben, A,2017)
