Both the Bible and a similar statement acknowledge that poverty and racism are permanent aspects of society. The question then arises: what actions can we take to address these issues? There are various methods, such as marching, protesting, complaining, or seeking government assistance, to combat racism. While some of these approaches have been effective in the past, I believe that excellence is currently the most powerful weapon against racism. Excellence has the ability to dismantle racial barriers more effectively than any amount of protest or shouting.

To foster excellence, it is crucial to seize all available educational opportunities. Despite unequal access to these opportunities, there are still avenues through which individuals can achieve their goals and aspirations regardless of their location or socioeconomic status. Health and critical thinking skills are key factors for success despi

te these disparities.

Recognizing that not all doors open equally for everyone, time remains an egalitarian factor - we all have the same number of hours in a day; how we choose to utilize them is a personal decision. We can spend our time on immediate pleasures like playing on the playground or invest it in enriching activities such as reading books. The former may provide temporary enjoyment but the latter offers long-term gratification.

Choosing the appropriate strategy is crucial in every situation. In this case, the most effective approach is to achieve an "A" in the course. The severity of racism in present times can only be imagined when comparing it to its state 30 years ago. When people talk about how severe racism is today, it brings to mind a scene from a movie where a young black teenager and his grandfather were driving through a small southern town one morning. They went through a stoplight and were stopped by a policeman who questioned why they ran the red light. The grandfather replied, "Captain, I saw the white folks going on the green light so I thought the red light was for us." Thankfully, we

have made progress and now have the ability to proceed on yellow lights. Do not allow racism or any other form of discrimination to impede your success. Some minority students attending predominantly white schools may argue that their academic performance is affected by racism. Obstacles are inevitable when striving for success; these obstacles may come in different forms but it is crucial to persevere and continue working hard. The outcome of your efforts will be determined by what you sow - if you plant corn, do not expect to harvest tomatoes. If we are truthful with ourselves, many of us have not yet reached our full potential. If the police were to arrest you for not putting effort into your school work, they would not have enough evidence to detain you.It is important to note that changing paths academically is within the rules.
