In my past years I never would have imagined I would be taking nursing as my future path. I thought I would become a teacher just like my mother. As I grew up, I became lost and confused as to what I would want to be in the future. There comes a point in a person’s life where you have to ask yourself, ‘What do you want to do in the future? ‘. I asked myself the same question and did a lot of thinking. My answer was i wanted to help people. I enjoy helping others. I think being a nurse is a noble thing to do so I have decided to pursue it.
After learning a little more about what being a nurse means, I have grown to love the idea of being a nurse and develo
...ped a passion for it. I believe I deserve this scholarship because I have the potential to be a great nurse. I am caring, empathetic, patient and a team player. By taking the nursing course, I will be able to help people and utilize my care-taking skills to its best. Ever since I was seven years old, I transferred schools a lot because of my mother’s work. I went to two different primary schools and three different secondary schools.
As a result I learned to adapt quickly to my surroundings so I can easily fit in at different conditions. Moving a lot also helped me to develop myself as I am a bit of a shy person. It made me more courageous to make new friends and to meet people. I can adjus
myself well to different personalities. I also like to observe people. How people think and how they behave is very interesting to me. This way I can learn more about people by their behavior. Being able to communicate in English was never a problem for me. My family uses English more than Malay when we communicate.
I have confidence in my ability to speak English. I got an A+ for my SPM English test as well. During Secondary school years I have joined a choral speaking competition and an English drama competition. This helped me a lot with my confidence. I can also communicate in Chinese as I attended Chinese primary school. I also took Chinese language during my PMR. I started being active in my school curricular activities in form 3 when I participated in the choral speaking competition. I was also a librarian at the time. I would always go to the library during lunch time and help out. I liked the quiet atmosphere.
When I was in form 4, I transferred schools and joined the ‘PKBM Udara’ school uniform unit. I participated in the annual marching competition for sectionals and regionals category. During my form 5 year, I continued to participate in the sectionals and regionals marching competition. I also participated in the Latihan Perkhemahan Tahunan PKBM Udara Peringkat Kebangsaan 2012 in Kem Tangok, Bachok, Kelantan. I also took home 9th place in the shooting competition. These activities have helped me a lot with my team work and my confidence. I also learned how to get along with other people.
