Tagore has taken this poem from ‘Geetangili’, a collection of poems or a book of poems. Tagore had a very deep religious cast of mind and he was both a patriot and an internationalist. In this poem, Tagore sketches a moving picture of the nation he would like India to be. Where everyone within the fold of brotherhood is free to hold up once head high and once voice to be heard without having any tension of fear or oppression. Where the knowledge is not restricted by narrow ideas and loyalties.

Where all the countrymen must come out of the aged- old world of people who have lost the vision of humanity by the narrow walls of cast, creed and religion. Prejudice and superstitions, which narrow the mind and divide the people, would not exist. Where the people would work for perfections in the clear light of reason leaving all the superstitions and the rituals aside. Tagore’s only prayer to the supreme almighty is leading the nation to such and ideal state of heaven.
