Remember the Titans is a American sports movie directed by Boaz Yakin. The movie is based on a true story of Afro-American coach Herman Boone, who make an effort against racisim in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971. In this report the movie evaluated within the contex of Organizational Behaviour concepts. At the begining of the movie, white and black players of the teams cultural and characteristic diversifications clearly stated. These diversifications creates a completely new character to the Titan Team under the coaching of Coach Boone.

Team players realize that they can come together to do something special despite of their diversifications. Black players are Short-term oriented, they are impatient and result-oriented on the otherhand white players are focus on stabilized improvement. After the accident of Gerry Bertier Team clamped together and win the titler for Gerry. Wining the title is the proof that Titans exceed the conflicts and become a team.

Actually winning the title is not just the success factor of Titans . Handling the racism and becoming team and close friends even 10 years later they meet at the funereal of Gerry. Behaviors that helped brings the Titans together as a team are Coach Boone clearly declerated that they have to respect each other to be a part of the team durign the camp process. All black players and white players are wanted to be a part of the football team

but they understand that they have to understand themselves and fight against racism. The attitudes of society effects Titans connect each other.

Coach Yoaks reaction over referee’s decrease individualism and increase collectivism of Titans. After the Hawks game Gerry’s girlfriend’s attitude and the restaurant owner’s racist attitudes start to make cracks inside the team but Julius, Gerry, Lastik and Blue make a little organization at the gym whithout any knowledge of coaches. Coach Boone is such a this kind of leader. He can motivites team in right place with task-oriented factors. He demands perfection all the time. We can understand that “We will be perfect in every aspect of the game. You drop a pass, you run a mile. You miss a blocking assignment, you run a mile. You fumble the football and I will break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts... and then you will run a mile. Perfection. Let's get to work. ” Coach Boone’s inspirational leadership technichs transformate players personal interest to Titans interest.

On the other hand Coach Yoast is evaluate sitiuational factors to team’s performance with relationship- oriented technics. He emphasize players interactions and threat every player with different attitude. Besides coach attitudes Gerry and Julius are also great influence on team Gerry can interact white people and shape them to deny racist attitude with his leadership skills. Julius makes the same thing to white players. Julius is

a socialized charismatic leader he can also impress Gerry. There are too many milestones that team could have been devastate.

At this milestones Julius and Gerry come to the forefront and show their leadership skills. These masculane characters effect Titans performance to next step. To increase the effectiveness Coach Boone and Coach Yoast split the roles. Coach Boone’s attitudes are solid he train his players with punishment. On the other hand Yoast positively reinforcement the players. At the camp scene Boone punishes everybody for one of them’s failure. Yoast is attutude to players with encouraging “Defence is desire”. Boone reflect his authority directly to players. And wait respect from them to obey his rules.

Yoast focuses on players and support them on their weaknesses. Also Julius and Gerry increase effectiveness as a leadership roles. And Blue, Lastik and Rev are icebreakers in the team. They take the interraction role in the team . The sing a song together with different colour players and first the interract with each other. Harmony between each other influence the effectiveness of Titans. Coach Boone is one of the important character in the movie. His leadership style much attractive than any other character in the movie. He is such a transformational leader. He changes almost every aspect of the team.

His inspirational power impacts on extraordinary effects on players. He always sees the bigger picture and potential of individual players than blend these specification to team’s winning desire. He wants fairness and equality between black and white players. He demand perfection form players and force players to become a team member even they don’t like them each

other. We can take understand this at the Gettysburg scene “You listen and take a lesson from the dead. If we don’t come together right now on this hallowed ground, then we, too, will be destroyed just like they were.

I don’t care if you like each other or not, but you will respect each other, and maybe, I don’t know, maybe we’ll learn to play this game like men. ” He alwasy demand much more than players shown on the pitch. “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. ” Coach Boone spoted the oppurtunities and goals clearly. He is ambitius about winning not only the creates team. He want to create a winnign team. He wants everybody to give everything to team and he is not accecpt failure. Petey’s sitiuation is an example that Boone attitude to sen him to bench.

He sets his standarts over players even Coach Yoats by the time he helps everybody to learn and develop. He is result oriented people so taking timely actions to win the game to make players race against racisim to interract black and white players. He takes difficult decisions at difficult situations. He is empowered the players to take actions such as Gerry’s cutting out his best friend Ray Budds for team’s benefits. We can understand that Boone success over his leadership behaviours he created a great team spirit under too many different conflicts and problems esspecialy Racism.

He arrived a new town nobody even school management wants him to success. Society forcing racism all over the village and even players families don’t help players interraction between each other.

He handle too many promblems and achive his goals. When appropriate time he critisies himself he pushes so hard on himself after Gerry’s accident. He questinied “i was blinded by my ambition”. Half time of last game players shows respects and understand what coach Boone gives the team, first they tought that he wanted them for perfection but Boone tries to perfect the team.

Yoaks declerated that “You’ve taught this city how to trust the soul of a man rather than the look of him and i guess it’s about time i joined the club. ” At this point Coach Boone did whatever he should need. Under stiff circumstances sometimes you can not tolorate small conflicts. I think that maybe he could be more friendly to his players. But in this concept Boone doesn’t use leadership skills for football only. What he did to players not only football gives life time experience, fighting against racism and becoma a team in hard circumstances. But even consider everything he could have been threat his players more relationship oriented.
