directed at something: food, clothing, housing, a particular culture, a field of endeavor, career, hobby, sports, with a view to excelling in that particular thing.

Really, in all these cases, it is important to recognize that passion is a strong feeling; it has a strength of its own that cannot be easily altered. It does not necessarily need an external impetus because it is self-perpetuating. It is a quality that is readily applicable to learning Salsa dance. Passion is different from utility or mere superficial desire or admiration for a thing/goal; it can stand the test of time, can persist even in the face of adversities.

For example, an individual who develops keen interest and eventually becomes passionate about something understands that his choice would be tested by time and events of life, and he is ready. He knows that his passion for dancing may infuriate his close allies who do not share his passion. Yet, he is undisturbed by such and still maintains his position because he has deep conviction about his passion, and that keeps him going. It is important to give a general overview of the dance: Salsa dance has its root in Latin and North America, the Caribbean and with undertones of African influence.

Informal dance styles are fused in Salsa dance; such styles, which are peculiar to it, include Los Angeles, Venezuelan, and New York, Columbian, Power 2, Puerto Rican and La Redo styles. Besides, it is typically a partner dance with rare single appearances. It can be part of a social party or a main performance; in the former smaller space is used but in the

latter, large ground is occupied for traveling. Each of these styles has its own peculiarity and the passionate fellow finds out about each and all of them; learns the one he can really perfect.

He also finds out that the dance is based on an African-based rhythm with two measures. Each measure has four beats. Salsa music ranges from about 100 beats to 180 beats per minute. The inherent passion drives him/her to seek tutorship in the basic and break steps, the stage displays and turns cardinal to a strong foundation. In lieu of this, one can almost conclude that the Salsa dance natural to Latinos can be learnt and perfected by non-Latin indigenes; it is just a matter of passion and time.

Here, practice is sustained by passion, which continually stands as the propelling force even when discouragement sets in at any time. Just like every other art, its perfection is based on continuous practice. Learning the steps especially basic and break steps can be complicating in the first place. Since it is a not a free flow dance, it therefore requires extensive practice to learn its intricacies. Its complexity is acknowledged by tutors who create enormous time and set up learning centers for passionate lovers of the unique dance style. In learning Salsa dance, patience is important; this is one of fruits of passion.

One should also expect disappointments at many unproductive moves during the learning. A castle is not built in a day. Also, Salsa dance steps cannot be learnt in just one single session. There would many errors but these are mere indicators of the right way to

do the dance. Passion is the comfort all through this time; it stands with the lonely friend and promises a great perfect future where Salsa becomes as natural to the Latinos. All forms of art including music are natural to some, and others would have to dedicate efforts to acquire appropriate skills.

What makes the difference really is the fact as natural as Latin people find salsa dance, anybody else of another culture entirely can learn it to the point that he also sees it as a natural habit, via the tool of passion. In this case, what passion does is that it provides the driving force, the zeal with which the journey can be attained with a viable outcome. When an individual is passionately involved with something, he delivers a huge chunk of energy, inert strength and strong emotional attachment to that particular thing; he is said to be consumed in its world.

Indeed, a gourmet differs from someone who merely enjoys tasty food: he knows a lot about good food and wines and who enjoys choosing, eating and drinking them. The former is passionate about food, and as a result he finds about and knows much about the concept. He has his conviction based on his knowledge of his passion. Similarly, a man in love salsa dance takes to gather information about the dance attends shows to see other better performers. In all, his passion sustains the taste and keeps the keen interest intact. It may not share by all and sundry but one sustains it: passion.
