McDonalds is a worldwide chain that tortures its animals, cuts the lifespan of its customers and taking over the world. This is why I believe it should be banned. First, let’s start with some statistics: * Last year, the company raked in a huge 28 billion US dollars; there are over 33,000 stores worldwide. Americans consume approximately 1 billion pounds of beef at McDonalds a year- that’s the equivalent of 4 million average weight two year old children. * McDonalds doesn’t follow FDA standards, the FDA is an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Lastly, Regular McDonalds goers eat about 12 hairs a year, and it’s not just the hair that grows on our heads we’re talking about here. Oh it’s worse. Now, about the animals; the chain uses outdat
...ed killing methods on its animals. In the slaughterhouses of the McDonalds suppliers, birds are dumped out of their transport crates and hung upside down in metal shackles; workers then have the opportunity to abuse the live birds, and the birds have their throats cut whilst they are still conscious. To finish the process, many are dipped into tanks of boiling water while they are still alive and able to feel pain.
Now, how the chicken nuggets are made: (show picture) * This pink sludge is made through a cheap process that smooth’s out bone remnants after de-boning. * This results in excessive bacteria; this is fixed by washing the meat in ammonia. * To cover up that “delicious” ammonia flavour, the meat is then re-flavoured artificially and dyed to resemble meat. Lovely. Now this next section i
all about you and what the food does to your body, Firstly, a big mac, large fries and a large coke contains 1350 calories; that’s around 54% of the daily recommendation for a fully grown man- in one meal.
While we’re on the subject of Coca Cola; one can of the stuff contains 10 teaspoons of sugar 100% of your daily recommendation. In normal circumstances, this sweetness would cause you to vomit uncontrollably. However, Coca Cola adds phosphoric acid- an ingredient that cuts the sweetness to manageable levels. Now, chemicals; McDonalds uses hundreds of them. Firstly, who’s ever had a strawberry milkshake from McDonalds? That milkshake contained 50 chemicals that replicate that taste of a strawberry, so there is no trace of the actual fruit whatsoever. One of these chemicals s ethyl acetate, which is used in nail polish remover and cigarettes.
Yum. Secondly, can anyone guess how many ingredients there are in a McRib? (Ask one person. ) The entire McRib sandwich contains about 70 ingredients- including a flour bleaching agent used to make yoga mats. Lastly, the “healthy salad” contains propylene glycerol, a chemical used in antifreeze, to keep it crisp. You’d probably be a bit better off eating a hamburger. This last section is about false advertising, McDonalds staff and how this multi-billion dollar company is taking over the world. So, ever wondered why your food never looks like it does in the advert?
That’s because everything is immaculately positioned, glued together and altered to make it appealing to you so you’ll go and buy it. Secondly, McDonalds oatmeal; “100% natural oats, plump raisins, sweet cranberries and crisp fresh
apples? ” More like, “Oats, sugar, sweetened dried fruit, cream and 11 weird ingredients you’d never have in your kitchen at home. ” Doesn’t sound so healthy now does it? So in a nutshell, McDonalds is lying to you so you’ll buy their products. Now, McDonalds staff. Have your parents ever lectured you about school and said, “Do you want to end up flipping burgers at McDonalds? I know mine have.
I’m sure our parents want us to go to university and don’t want us working at a fast food restaurant, well imagine how “proud” they’d be if they saw you graduating from Hamburger University. Yes, there is such thing. Hamburger University is a huge training facility of the McDonalds Corporation, located in Illinois, America that was founded in 1961. Since then, 80,000 students have graduated and in March 2010 a Hamburger University was opened in Shanghai, China. So instead of spending a few years taking a course at a proper university, McDonalds are encouraging people to get a degree in burger flipping.
Now back to you and how McDonalds is taking over the world. It is everywhere! Over the next three years, McDonalds is going to open one restaurant every day in China; that’s 1095 more of the golden M’s for the citizens of China to see. This is a rough idea of how many branches of McDonalds there are in the United States (hold up picture). That’s a whole lot of restaurants, no wonder they manage to sell more than 75 hamburgers every second! In 1994, a McDonalds branch was opened in Kuwait, in that one day it attracted 15,000 customers
and the drive-thru line reached a length 7 miles at one point.
McDonalds is not nly taking over the world, it’s taking over our brains too. A recent survey by Sponsorship Research International found that 88% of people could identify the logo whilst only 54% could name the symbol of Christianity, the cross. McDonalds was founded in 1940, Christianity has been around for thousands of years; do you not see a problem with the fact that the golden M is more recognised than the cross? McDonalds is a chain that claims its food is nutritious but in reality it causes cancer, heart disease and digestive diseases. It tortures animals, lies to workers and slowly kills them through their food. Tell me, are you still loving it?
