I hear that a lot from my teachers. I have them clap their hands in front of my face or shake my desk to get me to pay attention. Common Ground- I'm sure everyone has had a story like one of mine, you were innocently daydreaming and in your own subconscious world, when you were rudely interrupted and informed that you were wasting time.  Thesis- Daydreaming is actually something that should be encouraged.  It promotes people to accomplish their individual goals, it helps establish the person you are, and it is promoting scientific research.

One of Walt Disney's famous quotes is “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Daydreaming can help someone accomplish their goals. 1. When you have a work-related daydream about the future and what you want to do and be, you are

setting goals to be accomplished Some people see themselves as CEO of a big corporation, Some people see themselves in a science lab, Some behind a fancy office desk, Some about traveling the world, Some running their own company, or some as stay home parents who give all of their attention to raising their kids. This kind of daydreaming is your subconscious telling you what will make you happy in life and what you are going to enjoy. Discovering what you want sets a goal.

Using Visualization also helps many people accomplish their goals. Athletes are often made to visualize themselves succeeding. do it enough on your own your body has more assurance that you can actually complete the goal.

Along with helping you accomplish your goals, Daydreaming also helps establish the thoughts and behavior of an individual person. You can learn more about yourself through daydreaming. Through daydreaming about different scenarios about debates and how you would convince someone to see things your way, you are learning where you stand on certain issues and your own moral beliefs.

Have you ever wondered what makes you different? What makes you an individual? What makes your thought process different than other people? When you are daydreaming the part of your brain that is active is the “default mode network” or (DMN) The DMN is active when people, project themselves into future scenarios, recall their pasts and weigh their personal values, in other words, daydream. Because of this it is believed that in the DMN we create, maintain, alter and renew the concept of "self." The DMN focuses on how we see ourselves because it is what contains all of the personal memories and relationships that we use to define ourselves as individuals.

The DMN does more than make you your own individual, it also has the potential to help many people.Through daydreaming we have unlocked whole new world of scientific research. 1. In past research the DMN has been ignored because it's just where all of our wondering thoughts occur. Many Scientist called it the “dead area.” But as scientist researched how certain parts of your brain are active when you are focusing on completing a certain task they realized that between task there was activity

in the DMN.

They soon discovered the DMN is separated into areas. There is an area for self reflection, memories, emotions, etc. The three main parts that are active in the DMN are the medial frontal cortex, medial parietal cortex, and the temporal lobes. Because the DMN is used to hold memories, scientist first connected it with the Alzheimer's disease. Over time, Scientist have linked other mental diseases with the DMN like autism, depression, ADD, ADHD and schizophrenia By studying more of the part of the brain that controls all of your wondering thoughts scientist believe that they can eventually come up with a cure for these mental diseases.
