I became a born-again Christian because I met Jesus Christ. My dreams, my ambitions and my purpose in life became clear. Now, I want to serve God and other people as a medical missionary. I can use my skills and talents in the health care field in helping people and making them feel God’s love in every aspect of life. Early in life, I wanted to be in the medical field.

ot save my father anymore because I was young and did not know medicine. But with training and study in the medical field, I know that I can help people with their medical needs. When I was younger, I developed my skills in arts such as painting, sculpture and needling. My work was even exhibited in state level exhibits. I had my art skills, I also wanted to be in the medical field and I wanted to serve the needs of people.

I did not know what field of study to pursue. I wanted to study in a medical school in Korea. But at that time, the medical school system was changed. studying architecture. I loved drawing and design that’s why I enrolled in that program. When the door closed to medical school in Korea, I had to pursue the next best choice that I had. It is interesting because I went to Las Vegas to pursue hotel management, my second option.

With this, I wanted to please people by giving them good service and experience. But when I was in the school I had a life-changing experience when I became a Christian. After becoming a born-again Christian, I remembered my father and my dreams to be in the medical field. Many people in the world suffer from bad health and poor condition. I realize that Christ wanted his followers to help the needy. I feel some regrets that I studied several majors before finding what my purpose in life truly was.

I pursued architecture because I loved art so much; I also entered medical school because I remembered my father and people’s need for health care, but then I also pursued hotel management due to my desire to serve people. When I finally became a Christian, everything fell into place. I can now combine my interests together and use all of my experiences in pursuing medical school, which also allows me to combine the art and practice of dentistry. This is the reason why I decided to enter medical field seriously. Now I am pursuing nursing.

This is a good stepping stone to advanced health care such as dentistry. I know that this will prepare me for my ultimate goal—to serve God by being in the medical field and helping people with their

health and dental needs. I want to bring back the smile that people lost. This will be a challenging journey for me. I have made progress in learning English by interacting with people and talking with them. By determination, I can become fluent in English. The culture in America is also different. In Korea, I was always the leader. My classmates always looked up to me as a leader.

In America, I did take leadership positions because I was still learning the English language. This is why I learned to be a follower. This way, I learned more about leadership and how to deal with followers. The medical field is now my pursuit. I will be a nurse and eventually a dentist. I know that I can become rich and powerful. Those are good things. But most of all, what I want to do is to help people recover their smile. It is not only about lost teeth and dental health but it is also about the mental and spiritual health of the people. For these reasons, I want to be a medical missionary.
