After leaving the classroom and going home, I was humming a tune. When I got there, I took my essay and thought about its topic. I remembered Mrs. Tan's advice to include a personal experience, so I stood up and looked out the window for inspiration. While doing that, I noticed someone wearing dark clothes who appeared uncertain and was covertly covering their mouth with a handkerchief.
Realizing that Mr. and Mrs. Lin, my neighbors, were on vacation without any family nearby, I noticed someone taking a screwdriver out of their pocket and attempting to tamper with their door lock. It became clear to me that the person in question was likely a burglar.
The man's disappointment was evident as he walked to the other side of the house. Opening the window sills, he confirmed my suspicion tha
...t he was a burglar. Unsure of what to do next, I paused briefly to consider my options. It became apparent that calling the police was my only choice. Without hesitation, I picked up the phone and dialed "999" to report the incident. I gave authorities a detailed account of the man's actions and they instructed me to continue observing him. The wait for law enforcement felt never-ending as time seemed to pass slowly.
As the burglar approached the window, getting ready to flee the house, I observed the shadow getting closer. With a strong resolve to hold him accountable for his deeds, I silently exited my house and walked towards the window. Right as he was about to escape, I quickly closed it and pressed down firmly to keep it sealed shut. This action provoked the furious burglar into strugglin
with the glass in an effort to break loose.
Despite a moment of silence, my calmness was shattered as the burglar attempted to pry open the window using his screwdriver. I fought with determination to prevent him from succeeding, exerting all my strength. Sweat drenched me within seconds, but I wiped it away and summoned even more power. It dawned on me that my endurance might be tested unless the police arrived soon.
My muscles expressed their discontent and threatened to quit. Suddenly, I had an idea. I grabbed a nearby string with my feet and used it to tightly secure the window. After what felt like an infinite amount of time, the sound of sirens finally became audible. Three police officers arrived and promptly opened the window. They were prepared for the burglar's possible retaliation.
The burglar, feeling hopeless, surrendered and was handcuffed by the police as he exited through the window. Two officers escorted him to the police station for questioning. Another officer thanked me for assisting and praised my bravery for intervening, as most people would not take such a risk. I blushed and humbly stated that my only goal was to uphold justice and ensure the burglar faced punishment; in that moment, I acted without hesitation.
Afterwards, I went back home and resumed my composition, which now flowed more smoothly thanks to this personal experience.
