Introduction

Effective school discipline and safety is very significant to a country since it ensures that both disciplinary and safety concepts are achieved. It is because this ensures that the available opportunities in the market are equally distributed to all people irrespective of their ethnicbackground of financial status. School discipline refers to those set of actions that are expected of a student or pupil (Merrell, 2008). Discipline also helps in guiding the necessary actions that can be taken against any student who breaks the set rules and regulations. Additionally, discipline helps in guiding the behavior of children as well as setting limits that makes it possible for them to learn how to take good care of themselves. Safety on the other hand refers to the condition of being free from danger or any other unlikely occurrences.

Some of the statements addressed in this category include; whether or not students demonstrate proper engagement levels; whether or respect exists among students; whether the staff members receive appropriate treatments from the teachers; and whether or not the students who have the behavioral skills should operate in groups.

Holding Students Accountable for their Behavior: Administration and Staff

The average score for this category was 2.4 which is considered as very good. Accountability between the teachers and the students is extremely essential. It is quite imperative for the students to be accountable for holding the school rules and this clearly reflects from the hard work of their teachers. Achieving this level of responsibility comes from the positive attitude of the teachers. 80% of the teachers disagreed on the grounds of whether the disciplinary issues should be referred to the office (statement 13), which is critical as it indicates that the school administration is on the side of their teachers and it is conscious of the issues that are occur in classrooms. This is significant in every the school atmosphere as the teachers require motivation to have an effective PBS system. The data also shows how the teachers are very flexible to adjustments, productive, optimistic and involved when in a school atmosphere. From the results obtained in number 39, it shows that the teachers are don’t want to be seen as negative when it comes to their work performance. All the teachers, when asked if they were relaxed, disagreed to the statement. This response could be due to being overworked by the administration or for being stressed due to lack/insufficient support in their areas of specialization.

School Safety and Security: Staff, Students, and School Grounds

The 5th scale had an overall score of a 2.3 which is considered a ‘very good’ set. In this category, the sfety of teachers is addressed. It discusses whether the teachers, students and other staffs feel secure in school. The question asked in this case is whether the school surrounding is conducive enough for the the operation of staffs and the learning of students. The data obtained indicated that generally, teachers feel secure while within the school environs. Most of the teachers agreed that their commodities are safe when within the school grounds. The safety of the school is not only essential for the operation of the teachers but also the performance of the students.

From the data analysis, I think the school is ready to implement a positive behavioral support system. This is because of the excellent performance witnessed in the undertakings by both teachers and other staff

members.

It is my feeling that the school is ready to do the implementation. According to the data obtained from the questionnaire, the teachers have a classroom management program that is effective and they teach the right skills as well as holding the students accountable for their behavior.

Focusing on the school’s social skills guideline, much of the data shows that the students have less behavioral skills that make them unable to work without supervision. However, the teachers are in a position to enhance their behaviors in classrooms. The social skill instruction I would recommend would be allowing the teahers teach the students social skills using the model-lead-test method.

Conclusion

In summation, effective school discipline and safety has caused major impacts to the education system. As a result of the same, the structure has not achieved much in terms of institutional development which is very significant in achieving the goals as expected (Osher, 2010). The forces have also paralyzed the sector in some instances; this has been evident where some education centers have been shut down due to inadequacy of disciplinary frameworks. It is clear that the general operation of any system depends on such social factors. To achieve an effective education system and to create a prosperous community for all residents, there is need to effectively address these issues inclusively as one people.
